Danny ‘Wildheart’ Mccormack Is Back And Ready To Rock

Having hinted for some time at recording a solo record, Danny McCormack has been quietly busy writing and recording his debut solo band single, I Don’t Wanna Be Nobody Else, supported by a Kickstarter campaign, which finishes on 18 March 2025.

There is also a four-track E.P. format entitled If You’re Not Living On The Edge You’re Taking Up Too Much Room, as well as T-shirts, signed posters and the chance to get in the studio with Danny and the band to add some backing vocals.

Advance mixes of I Don’t Wanna Be Nobody Else circulated to press and radio reveal a tune very much in the Danny style. If you like The Wildhearts mid-’90s single, Anthem, or any of Danny’s previous bands, The YoYos, The Chasers or the Main Grains, then you will enjoy this short blast of leather jacket, skinny jeans-and-amphetamine 1977 punk.

I, Danny McCormack / Once A Wildheart Always A Wildheart is the book where the former bassist of The Wildhearts delves into his tumultuous journey of addiction and redemption.

MetalTalk spoke with Guy Shankland, co-author of the new book and Neil Phillips and Tom Spencer from The YoYos, the band Danny formed in the late 1990s after the first Wildhearts split.

Exhilarating and inspiring, but also a brutal and cautionary tale, I, Danny McCormack, is an addictive read. You can read more about the book here.
