Bloodstock Festival 2023 – Saturday. The party mood is in full swing with
the pink flamingos of Trollfest and the toilet paraphernalia of Gutalax. Weird, yes, but totally infectious.
Trollfest

If you want a party, then it’s Norwegians Trollfest who win the day. Decked out as pink flamingos, this is one of the most fun sets of the weekend.
They are infectious. Their Eurovision Metal is greeted with huge affection. The barrier is bonkers, the inflatable flamingos are everywhere, and on stage, the Norwegians, dressed as flamingos in fetching pink, are loving every minute.
They gurn, they laugh, and they bring a sense of humour which counteracts the more serious nature of some of the other acts on the weekend.
Bloodstock loves a party, and Trollfest are likely to have a permanent invitation after this showing.
Gutalax

Curious and bemused faces abound in the Sophie Tent. There are people in full hazmat suits wielding all kinds of toilet paraphernalia. It’s time for the Gore ‘N’ Roll of Czechs Gutalax.
It’s quite the initiation for those new to the band. Toilet rolls are thrown into the crowd, who are going nuts as the band blast through their filth-drenched songs about bodily fluids and functions.
The surfers are fully active, keeping the excellent security on their toes.
It’s an acquired taste, in more ways than one, with indistinguishable pig-squealing vocals combined with fast riffs. The crowd love it, and Gutalax brings the party with aplomb.
Bloodstock Festival 2023 is held over the weekend of 10-13 August 2023. MetalTalk’s Paul Hutchings and Adrian Stonley report from Catton Park.
