Black Country Communion Are Back ‘Full Of Soul And Grit’

Black Country Communion are back with a new album, V, set for release on 14 June 2024. The lead single, Stay Free, has been released, which, once again, finds Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian perfectly blending British blues-rock with American soul.

V has, once again, been produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Shirley. “When we convened in 2023 to start recording the album V,” Shirley says, “it really was like picking up the day after the most recent gig. The camaraderie is immediately evident. Once they start playing, everyone is deadly serious, and the music sounds like this band, and nothing else sounds like it.”

Hughes has echoed the thrill of once again collaborating with Black Country Communion. “In my opinion, we had the best time recording this record at Sunset Sound in Hollywood,” he said. “Tons of fun and a magical recording. Meet you inside the Music.”

Stay Free certainly whets the appetite for the new album. The first three seconds might make you think of ZZ Top, but thereafter, the track fills the ears with an instant earworm. Hughes sounds fantastic, and that Bonamassa solo middle section is immense. Big kudos to Bonham and Sherinian, too; as you know, Stay Free will be an immediate live favourite.

Speaking of live, if you are at Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on Sunday, 17 March 2024, you will have the chance to catch the band. This will be the first Black Country Communion live performance in America in over 11 years.

“For a band that started out as a collection of the best practitioners of their instruments, they very quickly found a unique sound,” Kevin Shirley says. “This time around, it has more purpose, the riffs are tougher, and there are hooks! Yes, hooks!”

V finds Black Country Communion together to release new music for the first time in seven years.

“It’s the most cohesive record,” Shirley says, “full of soul and grit, and I think this is the one that’s going to be the benchmark for Black Country Communion.”

V is available via J&R Adventures and can be pre-ordered now. For more details, exclusive content, and updates, please visit https://shop.jbonamassa.com/collections/bcc-v.

The Culture Room show is presented by Joe Bonamassa’s Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation. All profits from the concert will be donated to support music education and musicians in need.

The band is also set to appear on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise, sailing from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico, from 18-22 March.
