Archive: Ian Watkins / Lost Prophets Frontman Releases Statement

Lost Prophets frontman Ian Watkins has at long last been able to release a statement through his solicitor, Sarah Williams-Martin today.

In a statement she said: Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time.

Watkins stands accused of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a 1 year old baby and four offences of possessing or distributing indecent images of children between May and December 2012. He remains in custody until his trial later this summer along side two co-accused females aged 20 and 24 who cannot be namde for legal reasons.

Judge Eleri Rees, the recorder of Cardiff, set the eventual trial date for the week beginning 15 July and expects it to last up to three weeks. The case was adjourned until a new hearing at the same venue some time at the end of May.
