Show tunes, big, brash, over-the-top theatrics. That is the basic premise of the third Dominum album, Night Is Calling. It is an over-the-top celebration of hybrid Eurovision rock combined with a more metallic edge. It is cheesy. There is not this much of the dairy delights in Madame Fromage’s fridge.
Dominum – Night Is Calling
Release Date: 3 July 2026

In one album, the band combine pop with the glorious bombast of Sabaton and touring mates Night Flight Orchestra in a flourish that is sure to delight their growing army of fans.

An upbeat cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller nestles in the last third, along with the bizarre yet addictive I Don’t Drink Wine, which you will be humming for days.
It is the Germans’ bombastic style that catches the ear. Produced by singer Felix Heldt and Jacob Hansen, this provides a new insight into the band’s dramatic, cinematic soundscapes. Glorious melodies blend with the anthemic. Check out the penultimate song Endzeit with its melodic but addictive hooks. It is hard not to get at least a little interested.
Of course, if an album that sounds as if it has come from a musical does not float your boat, then sailing on to something else may be best. But if you do enjoy the kind of crazy that is produced here, then dive in.
Opener The Circus Comes To Town is the perfect intro. A big song for a big album. Musically, it is performed with a quality one would expect. Dr. Dead (vocals) and his Zombies, Tommy Kemp (guitars), and Patient 0 (bass) are limited only by their own ambitions.
Kemp’s work is exemplary, and even though this is not an album I would choose to listen to, there is enough to make it interesting.
With Battlebeast joining on Night Is Calling, and Heldt’s acoustic performance on Don’t Get Bitten By The Wrong Ones grabbing the attention despite being a bit of a filler, this is an album of marmite proportions.
Hooks to sing for weeks, engulfed in the carnival world that the band have created. You will either love its gloriously decadent approach or run howling in the opposite direction.
Cooky horror themes combine with theatrical flourishes, and I can see audiences across Europe will lap this up. A hardcore of UK fans are no doubt already salivating at the UK tour coming in December.
It will be no surprise to see that. Whether this would appeal to those more casual listeners is another thing.
Dominum release Night Is Calling on 3 July 2026 via Napalm Records. For more details, visit napalmrecords.com/deutsch/dominum or the band’s website, where you can also get tour tickets.
