Ace Of Spades and No Sleep ’til Hammersmith: The Best Motörhead Albums of All Time

When thinking of the biggest and best Metal bands to have ever been formed, then Motörhead will likely be at the top of the list for many.

Indeed, the band is one of the most iconic around the world, with their impact being clearly felt around the planet across a variety of different forms. For instance, there is a host of merchandise available across various different industries, Motörhead rum, vodka and Whiskey, across fashion sectors, whilst there is also a slot game that features the band’s name available at the real money online casino PA that had been created by NetEnt back in 2016 which continues to allow players to rock out to some of their favourite tracks at the same time.

Speaking of the hits that they have released, the English Heavy Metal band – who were formed in 1975 and consisted of Lemmy on the lead vocals, and bass, guitarist Larry Wallis, and Lucas Fox who continued to play the drums – have gone on to be incredibly successful over nearly five decades, with the group releasing more than 20 studio albums in their time, and releasing hit songs such as Ace Of Spades, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch, and Overkill.

Whilst there have been some exceptional songs to have been released, there have been some incredible albums to have also been released over the last near-50 years.

In this article, we have decided to list our picks for the best Motörhead albums of all time and have provided you with the reasons why we believe they deserve to be ranked as high as we think they should.

Let’s take a look at each of them below:

Ace Of Spades

For many, there is no disputing that the Ace Of Spades album is one of the very best to have ever been released by the band.

Indeed, many consider this album – released in 1980 – to have been Motörhead’s signature release, especially as it includes some of the band’s most popular songs. For instance, tracks include a song that features the same title as the album.

To highlight just how big this album was, it managed to earn critical acclaim from a number of industry experts, with some having even described it as “one of the best Metal albums by any band, ever”, whereas others recognised its influence on the genre of music. Furthermore, many largely believe this album can be considered the best of all time because of its perfect combination of Heavy Metal and punk rock.

Moreover, it was the band’s most commercially successful album in its history, whilst it also managed to reach the No. 4 spot in the UK Album Charts, as well as earning gold status and ranked as one of the top 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

No Sleep ’til Hammersmith

The album No Sleep ’til Hammersmith was Motörhead’s first major release in the United States, and it reached number one on the UK charts. The album is considered to be one of the best live albums of all time, and it includes some of Motörhead’s most well-known songs.

The original album included two songs from their debut album, the title track from the Bomber album, as well as five songs that were featured on their Overkill album, as well as three tracks from the Ace Of Spades album.

Motörhead

This album is the band’s self-titled debut, and it was released in 1977. The album is considered to be one of Motörhead’s most influential releases, and it helped to define the sound of Heavy Metal music.

It featured the song of the band’s name. However, it is perhaps best thought of as being the album that actually gave us the group and all of the iconic hits to follow. This is because the group was not enamoured with it and were actually on the verge of potentially coming to an end as they felt they were not going anywhere.

Thankfully, that was not the case!

Final Thoughts

Naturally, there are a plethora of awesome albums to have been released by Motörhead over a career that has lasted almost 50 years thus far, although it could be argued that the three to have been mentioned above are perhaps the greatest of all time when it comes down to this iconic British Heavy Metal band.
