ROBB REINER POUNDS THE NEW ANVIL ALBUM: NIGHT DEMON AND IAN GILLAN ALSO FEATURE IN YOU SPIN ME ROUND EDITION ELEVEN
23rd January 2018

you spin me round

Edition Eleven of MetalTalk's new album review radio show, You Spin Me Round, is available On Demand now.

Here's the running order:

Part 1:

1. Night Demon: Darkness Remains (Expanded) (Steamhammer/SPV) reviewed by Johnny Churchill
Tracks:
Hallowed Ground
Maiden Hell

"A well trodden metal path, but it is delivered with power and panache. Taking no chances with their sound, it’s classic Trad Metal all the way, but what surprises most is just how much metal this Californian three-piece can deliver."

2. Eisley/Goldy: Blood Guts & Games (Frontiers) reviewed by Brian Boyle
Tracks:
Soul Of Madness
The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter

"A weighty slice of classic AOR with tasty hooks and a big meaty chorus.Eisley takes each song by the throat, while Goldy delivers performances worthy of his reputation."

3. Ian Gillan: The Voice Of Deep Purple - The Gillan Years (The Store For Music Ltd) reviewed by Johnny Main
Tracks:
Loving On Borrowd Time
Poor Boy Hero
Viva Miami

"The crowning glory of the album is still the impressive 'Loving on Borrowed Time' which has an extraordinary performance from Gillan as part of a duet with Carol Kenyon. A true classic track that’s incredibly under-rated."

4. Judas Priest: Lightning Strike (single) (Columbia/Sony) reviewed by Johnny Churchill
"Priest have upped the ante. They've really nailed this tune. Halford roars, Richie Faulkner shreds like crazy and there's a power and energy about the track which really bodes well for the new album."

5. The Bad Flowers: Starting Gun reviewed by Andy Rawll
Tracks:
Hurricane
Secrets
City Lights

"Piledriver bass, sledgehammer drums and earth-shaking guitar riffs, this is the sound of the industrial West Midlands, so memorably captured by Sabbath and Priest, and reborn here with a contemporary twist. A bostin’ romper stomper of an album."

Additional Track - Carousel Vertigo: Revenge Of Rock And Roll

Part 2:

1. Anvil: Pounding The Pavement
A special feature interview by Steve Göldby with Robb Reiner of Anvil with his track by track perspective and insight into the album.

Additional Track: The Amorettes: Let The Neighbours Call The Cops
