Italian rock icons Verdena release their seventh full-length Volevo Magia on 28 April 2023 via Capitol Records Italy / Universal Music. They play London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire the following evening, and MetalTalk has one pair of tickets to give away for the only UK stop on their European tour.
Formed in 1995, Verdena soon established themselves as one of the leading rock outfits on the Italian music scene earning a reputation as one of the best live bands in the country.
Founded by brothers Alberto Ferrari (vocals and guitar) and Luca Ferrari (drums) along with Roberta Sammarelli (bass), Verdena draws inspiration from a variety of genres, ranging from a Nirvana-esque grunge soundscape to psychedelic rock influences with a hint of stoner.
Crystal Ball was the first single shared from Volevo Magia. The new album follows the recent release of the album America Latina, a collection of instrumental tracks composed and orchestrated for the soundtrack of the homonymous film by the D’Innocenzo brothers.
America Latina marked the end of a long period of silence since their latest release, Endkadenz, a two-volume project, in 2015.
Having cracked the Italian music lovers, with albums such as Wow, their fifth, going gold, Verdena are now ready to break the Italian border and reach out to new territories.
Verdena, whose recently completed 16-date Italian tour saw 14 sold-out venues, are looking forward to bringing their explosive live show to Shepherd’s Bush and with the new album Volevo Magia set to chart well, it’s great to know that two MetalTalk readers can get in to experience the night in person for free.
