Welsh ragga Metal legends Skindred have released their brand-new single, This Is The Sound, a fiery, hook-laden blast that blends dancehall swagger with a booming Metal grind. It is the second track to be taken from the band’s forthcoming ninth studio album, You Got This, out on April 17, 2026.
“Skindred’s sound has always been about fearlessly sailing on uncharted waters and using multiple influences to get the melting pot of ideas really smoking,” Frontman Benji Webbe says. “This Is The Sound pulls together evil dance hall vibes with a booming Metal grind that hopefully makes you want to bang your head and scream along with the chorus. THIS IS THE SOUND THAT MAKES YOU GO CRAZY!”
The track arrives with an official visualiser filmed and produced by Matt Higgs and Very Metal Art, capturing the band at full tilt.
You Got This follows 2023’s critically acclaimed Smile, which hit Number 2 on the UK Official Album Chart. Since then, Skindred have continued their upward surge, picking up the Best Alternative Music Act Award at the MOBOs and Best UK Act at the Heavy Music Awards, while cementing their reputation as one of the planet’s most electric live bands.
Production on the new album comes from Grammy-winning producer Jay Ruston, whose credits range from working with songwriter Desmond Child to producing Corey Taylor and Mr Bungle.
