New York singer-songwriter Sari Schorr has released the official video for Running Wild, the title track from her forthcoming album. The album will arrive through Provogue Records and Artone Label Group on 9 October in Europe and 30 October in the United States. Schorr will support the release with a 46-date European tour, beginning with an album launch show at The Lexington in London on 29 September.
Running Wild explores the tension between desire and control, and the point at which an attempt to hold on to someone begins to suffocate the attraction that brought two people together. “Running Wild is about the tension between desire and control – wanting someone intensely without trying to contain them,” Sari Schorr said. “Passion needs freedom to stay alive. Hold it too tightly and you risk suffocating the very thing that drew you in.”
Capturing Instinct On Film
The first version of the video was abandoned. For the second shoot, Sari Schorr worked with videographer Kee Koo and chose atmosphere over a literal retelling of the song. “We wanted to capture the feeling of Running Wild – desire, freedom, danger and that irresistible pull towards someone you know you may never be able to hold on to,” Schorr said. “We chased the atmosphere more than perfection.”
Many of the finished moments were not heavily planned. The team experimented with movement, light and instinct, allowing the camera to keep rolling and capture spontaneous details.
A Defiant And Personal Record
Running Wild was the first song written for the album and became the spark for everything that followed. Schorr describes the record as a collection shaped by self-discovery, defiance, resilience and transformation. “I’ve reached a deeper understanding of who I am as an artist,” she said. “I’m still searching and learning, but I trust my instincts more now and worry less about whether a song is behaving itself. I follow it wherever its emotional truth leads.”
The album’s opening single, Mr. In The Middle, examines the pull between two people who cannot let each other go, even though one is ready to commit while the other moves between desire and distance.
Beyond music, Sari Schorr’s humanitarian work has included volunteering at psychiatric and care facilities, serving as a 9/11 first responder and helping to distribute aid in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. She also contributed to Amnesty International’s 2012 anthem Toast To Freedom.
