NAMM 2024 / Leatherwolf Triple Axe A Hit In California

NAMM 2024 – 27 January 2024. Leatherwolf brought their Night Of The Wolf show to The Grand Ballroom at The Grand Theater in Anaheim, California, for Namm Jamm. Originally hailing from Huntington Beach, California, this “triple axe attack” band has been churning out music since the early ’80s. Tonight, Leatherwolf, in support of their 2022 album entitled Kill The Hunted, brought their A-game to the stage for the attendees of The Namm Music Festival.

With original member Dean Roberts kicking ass, tucked behind his large custom Yamaha drum kit, and the triple-guitar trio of Rob Math, Luke Man, and Wayne Findlay, these guys let you know they were here to slay.

The stage was small compared to when I saw them at Maryland’s M3 Rock Festival two years ago, but they made the best of it playing to a crowd of rabid fans. Opening up with a couple of songs from Kill The Hunted, which was produced by Dean Roberts, they immediately got the crowd pumping fists with Hit The Dirt and Nobody.

Each guitarist performed on several unique guitars throughout the night. Next up, they played Spiter, the first track from their 1984, self-titled, debut album. They continued to thrill the fans with a thirteen-song set spanning their 40+ year career. Singer Keith Adamiak has been with the band since 2019 and is a vocal force to be reckoned with.

The seventh song of the set was Alone In The Night, and was featured on the soundtrack of the 1988 movie Return Of The Living Dead Part 2.

The following song, Thunder, included some special guests. Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra fame, and Leatherwolf’s triple axe era bassist, Paul Carman, from Colorado joined on stage.

Joel performed on a re-released version of Thunder, which has been marked with the suffix (MMXXII), as well as The Henchman. Rounding out the night was a trio of ’80s classics that left the fans wanting more.

Tonight, Leatherwolf wowed the fans with a killer 13-song set. This is a band whose career spans longer than most, and tonight, they still left everyone wanting more. The band play their next show at The Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California, on 26 April 2024.
