Another tenacious fixture on the West Midlands live circuit are adrenalised quartet Mystiek who play “high impact hard rock which fuses heavy groove riffs with soaring vocals & solos.” Mystiek comprise Josh Dallas on vocals and guitar, the enthralling Will Fernyhough on lead, Jimmy Perkins on bass and Lewis Rochelle on drums.

Those with long memories may recall the time MetalTalk caught them at The Station in Cannock, which was described as “On each sighting, they get tighter and slicker too, with this being far and away the most polished and enjoyable set that I have seen from them yet.”
Following on from the groovetastic Bring Me Down, Friday 15 August sees the release of their latest endeavour, Devil On My Six.
With the title immediately announced over a heraldic riff, the song settles into a grinding rhythm where each chord is given the space to linger, yet does not detract from the overall momentum.
Subsequently accelerating into a bridge come chorus whereby Josh’s vocal is enriched by the backing harmony gang vocals. Post chorus, the riff toggles between a choppy then galloping cadence prior to Josh reaching deep within for the pre-solo, angst-ridden bridge.
One is always eager to hear Will’s solo fireworks, and again, he does not disappoint. Simple, harmony-rich but effective.
All this within a tad over three minutes.
In summary, a most accessible and increasingly infectious effort from an outfit who, in the performance arena, coalesces technical expertise with effervescent and electrifying flow.
Having viewed Mystiek on numerous occasions, I expect this will acquire even greater sparkle as it becomes a set regular.
Mystiek release new single Devil On My Six on 15 August 2025 which can be pre-saved from https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/mystiek/devil-on-my-six
