Megadeth have this afternoon released Tipping Point, taken from their forthcoming self-titled final album. Due for release in 2026 via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label.
“We all have different tipping points,” Dave Mustaine says, “and they may vary from day to day. I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”
Sonically explosive and lyrically unflinching, Tipping Point, kicks off with a thunderous guitar solo before Mustaine’s iconic voice hauntingly kicks in. In the desolate but hopeful accompanying video, directed by Leonardo Liberti, Mustaine is locked up in a prison being tortured in extreme fashion, while the band performs in the same lock-up.
You will have to watch it to the end to see what happens.
We await news of the global farewell tour, looking forward to seeing Mustaine with Teemu Mäntysaari (Lead, Rhythm, and Acoustic Guitars), James LoMenzo (Bass Guitar) and Dirk Verbeuren (Drums) one last time.
“There are so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,” Mustaine said. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.
“I have travelled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans, and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.”
