Luke Morley, the guitarist and songwriter of Thunder, has announced a six-date UK tour in January 2024. This tour will feature his solo material, which crosses various genres and was highly praised in his recent release, Songs From The Blue Room.
Songs From The Blue Room was released on 23 June 2023, but even before the official release, Morley told MetalTalk that the call for some live shows was already being made.Â
“As the album is kind of a side project anyway, initially, I was thinking I wouldn’t bother doing any gigs,” Luke told MetalTalk. “Now the news is out that the album’s coming, and people have heard the first track. Well, when are you touring? So I thought I better have a look at it.”
Luke will be joined by Thunder bassist Chris Childs, guitarist Dean Howard (Cats In Space, T’Pau), Sam Tanner (keyboard player on Thunder’s most recent UK tour) and drummer Dave McCluskey (The Union, The Quireboys).
“But if I do it, I want to do it properly,” Luke told us. “That’s the thing. I want to make sure the right musicians are available, and it’s the right kind of venue, and everything’s right about it. Because I’m too old to do it badly. I have no desire to do it if I can’t do it the way I want to do it.”
Songs From The Blue Room is an album that we really enjoyed listening to, and the thought of hearing these songs live is an enticing prospect.
“I think this will work well, live,” Luke said. “I think a lot of the tunes will work quite well because I think they’re essentially quite simple songs.”
The tour, which also features Oklahoma’s Hillbilly Vegas, kicks off at KK’s Steel Mill on 25 January 2024 and runs through to London on 31 January. Tickets are available from here.
