Kula Shaker plans tribute to John Lennon ahead of 2023 UK Tour

Psychedelic rockers Kula Shaker plays Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 8 December, the anniversary of John Lennon’s death. The band recently released their version of Gimme Some Truth, the Lennon protest classic.

Lennon’s version, recorded in May 1971, was a vent of his frustrations with deceptive politicians, hypocrisy, and chauvinism.

Kula Shaker’s Crispian Mills had rewritten some lyrics to bring the message up to date and relevant to today’s global issues. However, Lennon’s publishers refused permission to release the new lyrics, so this new version stays faithful to Lennon’s original words.

Kula Shaker will perform a special tribute to Lennon in the Shepherd’s Bush Empire show.

Kula Shaker plays Norwich Waterfront the evening before the London show and then heads out on a 14-date UK tour starting 19 January 2023 in Edinburgh and running to 5 February in Bristol.
