Imperial Age / Russian Symphonic Metal band postpone their long-awaited UK tour

Imperial Age, the self-funded Russian Symphonic Metal band, have postponed their imminent UK tour. The Russian war on Ukraine made the trip naturally impossible to fulfil.

On Monday 28 February 2022, the band said, “Since the government of Russia is waging a full-scale war against Ukraine – something that we along with most of the civilized world are shocked by, find totally unacceptable, unjustifiable and altogether impossible to comprehend – we are having issues with travelling to the UK.”

That band statement indicated that they were still hoping to travel.

“Over these surreal 5 days of horror we have been pondering on whether it is morally correct for us to play these shows at this time,” the Monday 28 February statement continued. “However this tour has been planned since 2019, we have obligations to our fans who have been holding onto their tickets for 2.5 years… and last but not least – we really want to come.

“In dark times people need light, in negative times – positivity.

“In times of separation – unity.

“That’s how we are trying to make the world a better place.

“Let’s hope this madness ends soon.”

A statement tonight, Wednesday 2 March 2022, the band confirmed all shows are postponed. “We managed to circumvent Covid,” the band said, “but we could not circumvent the war… Please do not ask for refunds if you can – we need your maximum support right now.

“We will give more details and possible dates tomorrow. Please hang on, we can’t say more right now.”

Today The United Nations has voted overwhelmingly to deplore the Russian invasion of Ukraine “in the strongest possible terms,” while the explosions continue around Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kherson and Mariupol. Our Ukraine brothers are living in fear during the despicable atrocity.
