Häxan / The Female Of The Species Is Deadlier

The female of the species is deadlier than the male. Häxan prove this again without any shadow of a doubt. Death Of Me is a fiery track slab of scorching and modern hard rock typifying the fearless approach of the Welsh trio.

Produced by the legendary Romesh Dodangoda, Death Of Me bristles with a modern polish that brings the best out of outfits sonic attack, the hook-filled anthemic quality of the songs brought to life in a way that should place them as real contenders for the big leagues.

Häxan have always been solid contenders, their relentless focus and hard-working ethic seeing them play literally all over the globe. But this is on another level entirely, and in an ideal world should see them taking on the arenas of the world.

Häxan - Death Of Me - "... they have pushed everything to 11 this time around."
Häxan – Death Of Me – “… they have pushed everything to 11 this time around.”

Kicking off with the big and ballsy title track, we are thrown into a world that is both menacing and melodic, with singer/guitarist Sam Bolderson, bass player Harriet Wadeson and drummer Jess Hartley not holding back on a thing.

The following Sirens hits even harder, the sound somewhere akin to Girlschool at their feral best and Dodangoda’s former clients Motörhead as it rattles along with barely controlled brutality.

Latest single, the breathtaking Thirteenth Hour, is arguably the best thing the trio have written yet and sounds huge, the dynamics and big guitar are built for huge stages with a sea of headbanging hordes worshipping at their feet.

All killer, no filler, the final run of the irresistible Burn Alive and closing full-pelt rocker Collide are the perfect race to the finish, both dripping with a wrecking-ball punch.

With this match made in heaven, Death Of Me shows exactly what the trio are capable of and their much-anticipated return to the road on their forthcoming tour is possibly the last chance to see them up close and personal before they go supernova.

Something to get excited about, this is exactly what drew and will continue to draw people into metal for generations to come. The revolution has arrived.
