Event Details

A standout among guitarists, Robin Trower, has seen and done it all since emerging onto the music scene six decades ago. Continuously crafting music with the power to captivate the world, Trower commemorates his 50th anniversary as an artist under his own name in Joyful Sky, featuring the exceptional New Yorker Sari Schorr as his chosen collaborator this time.

Two outstanding artists, one sublime album, was how we described Joyful Sky. With this and the excellent United State of Mind, Trower has shown that he has plenty more gas in the tank, and we can look forward to many more miles on the road ahead.

“I think this record is more accessible than the stuff I’ve done over the last few years, and I’ve got a feeling it’ll reach more people,” says Trower of Joyful Sky. “At my age, to still be doing it and still turning out good stuff, you really appreciate what a blessing that is.”

With her smoky and soulful voice, Sari Schorr is the perfect singer for the project. The heart and rawness she brings match the playing perfectly as both she and Trower roar and purr in equal measure.

“The greatest thing for me was to see Robin happy,” Sari told us in a wide-ranging interview. “That’s really all I wanted. I just wanted to honour him and honour his legacy by doing something that he would be proud of. I put so much pressure on myself in the beginning, telling myself you gotta be good. No, you gotta be great. No, you gotta be the best you’ve ever been.”

It has been six years since the Robin Trower has graced the UK stages. He will return in May for three special shows playing songs from across his formidable back catalogue, from Bridge Of Sighs all the way up to Joyful Sky.

Tickets are available from The Gig Cartel.
