Dolly Parton Goes Hard Rock with Superstar Collaborations on New Album Rockstar

Dolly Parton, The Queen Of Country, has gone full-on hard rock and shared two new songs from her Rockstar album. Set for release on 17 November, Dolly has been working on a 30-song collection of rock anthems featuring nine original tracks and 21 covers with superstars of the rock and Heavy Metal World. The enticing thing is, though, this is seriously top-quality stuff.

Joining Dolly for Bygones are Rob Halford, Nikki Sixx and John 5. “Bygones is an original song of mine,” Dolly told us. “It is one of my very favourites on the whole album. The song fits with so many couples, and coupling my voice with Rob, one of my all-time favourites, made it even more special.”

Ann Wilson joins Dolly for the impressive version of the Heart track Magic Man. Written by the Wilson sisters, the track appeared on Heart’s debut album Dreamboat Annie. Of course, with Dolly’s input, there are some sweet changes to the original, evidence of her driving this project. Special guest Howard Leese joins for this song.

“I’ve always wanted a reason to sing Magic Man by Heart, and it was one of my first choices for the album,” Dolly said. “I was so happy that Ann Wilson agreed to sing it with me. Nobody can outsing Ann, but I gave it my darndest, and we added a few lines that were not in the original. We wanted to have a few things that made it seem like ours. I hope I’ve made you proud. I think it’s magic.”

The first track from Rockstar released was World On Fire. You can watch a leather-clad Dolly perform this live at The 58th ACM Awards below.
