Vola / Devastating Fire Destroys Gear & Touring Setup

Vola, whose last album Friend Of A Phantom pushed hard for one of the best and cleverest releases of 2024, have seen a devastating fire at their storage facility in Copenhagen destroy the band’s entire infrastructure. “Everyone is safe,” the band said, “but everything that allowed us to function as a band is gone.”

The fire occurred at their storage facility in Nettolager. “The section of the complex where our unit was located was completely burned down,” Vola said. The total loss is estimated at 164,000 EUR.

“This was the whole infrastructure behind Vola,” the band said. “Instruments, touring rigs, audio and monitoring systems, recording equipment, merch, vinyl, and years of accumulated tools built specifically for this project. Among the items lost are those that cannot be replaced, not to mention the immense time it takes to build these racks and systems.

“Members of our crew lost essential tools required to do their work. Rebuilding even a minimal live setup also means enabling our front-of-house team to continue working and earning a living. This project has always been bigger than the people on stage.”

The band said that they can recover 26,500 EUR through insurance and have started a fundraiser to help recover from this devastating news.

“This fundraiser exists to help us rebuild,” the band said. “Support will go directly toward replacing essential gear, rebuilding the live system, and getting us ready to play live again.

“As for our upcoming live plans, we will not be deterred and will 100% play all of the upcoming shows in Japan and Australia in February, and the Latin America tour in March. Please hold on to your tickets, and if you haven’t bought yours yet, please do.

“We will find a way to play the shows and keep moving forward. But rebuilding even a minimal, functional system takes time and resources. For now, we have six weeks before the next show.”
