Mexican Dogs Premiere New Single Hold On At MetalTalk

Mexican Dogs premiere their new single Hold On at MetalTalk this morning. The new single comes on the back of impressively quick progress, as an almost immediate label deal saw a four-track EP released, which taps into the classic sounds of T.Rex and Led Zeppelin.

“Hold On shows us taking everything to the next level,” the band said, “and there’s lots more like this in the pipeline. It gets a great reaction when we play it live, so we’re delighted to share it with everyone now.”

The roots of the band lie with friends Gaz Wilcox (Lead Vocals) and Carl Rooney (Drums), who got together in 2021 with the idea to just play together for the love of music. After a time, they almost unintentionally moulded their sound, and the single Run, Run, Run was released. After some time, they met Sonny Winder-Rodgers (Bass / Vocals), and the Mexican Dogs lineup was complete.

Fast forward, and with management, PR and the label Fretsore Records on board, a self-titled debut EP was released last year with four well-received fuzzy and bouncy alt-rock tracks. Support came from 6 Music, Planet Rock, Radio X, and Absolute, with key playlisting on Apple Music’s New In Rock UK and YouTube Music’s New Rock.

“What a year it has been for us,” Gaz said after the EP release. “Having been a band for less than two years, we are happy to make our mark on the music industry. This EP captures what a new band is all about, and the excitement and enthusiasm really cut through on the record, we think.”
