Mason Hill Frontman Scott Taylor Departing: Band Begins Search for New Singer

Following a recent medical scare, Mason Hill frontman Scott Taylor has decided that he now needs to take time to consider his future. Mason Hill have begun the search for a new singer, with work on a second album already underway.

Following the Mason Hill show at Firevolt, Taylor collapsed with an atrial fibrillation diagnosis caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure. This meant the band had to withdraw from Stonedead.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce I am leaving Mason Hill,” Scott Taylor told us. “It has been a fantastic journey with many great moments, but right now, I just need to take time to re-evaluate my career path. It has been an incredibly difficult decision, and I wish the band all the very best moving forward.”

MetalTalk caught up with Mason Hill at KK’s Steel Mill last year, where we noted that “Scott Taylor is an amazing frontman and has a voice that fills the cavernous Steel Mill.”

The MetalTalk team send their best wishes to Scott Taylor.

Mason Hill say the search is on for a new singer, with plans very much underway to record their second album very soon.

“We are sad about this turn of events,” guitarist James Bird told us, “but we fully respect Scott’s decision and wish him all the very best in his future pursuits.

“Mason Hill will continue the same trajectory as before, and we are all excited about the great new material we have written for album two.”

Mason Hill released their Top 20 chart-topping and highly acclaimed debut album Against The Wall in 2021. A new album is planned for 2024.
