Joanne Shaw Taylor returns for a second UK Tour in 2022, with 14 dates over November and December. Tickets go on general sale on 5 August 2022.
Shaw’s April 2022 dates were met with a fantastic response, with MetalTalk’s Sid Kissinger saying that “the reigning queen of British blues played an electrifying set, enjoying being back on home turf,” of the York show.
The winter tour opens at the Cardiff Tramshed on 22 November and runs through to High Wycombe on 11 December.
Joanne will perform songs from her latest critically acclaimed album, The Blues Album, which topped Billboard Magazine’s Official Blues Album Chart. This, her seventh album, was produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith at Oceanway Recording Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and was released on Bonamassa’s independent record label KTBA Records on 24 September 2021.
The album features Joanne’s personalised covers of eleven rare blues classics immortalised by Albert King, Peter Green, Little Richard, Magic Sam, Aretha Franklin, Little Milton, and many more.
“I’d known from the beginning of my recording career that one day I wanted to record an album of blues covers,” Joanne said. “I just wasn’t sure when the right time to do that would be. I’ve always found it far easier to write my own material than come up with creative ways to make other artists’ material my own.”
Joanne released the live album and concert film Blues From The Heart Live in June 2022. Filmed and recorded at The Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tennessee, the special concert film, and the album includes sixteen tracks and features guest performances from Mike Farris, and Joe Bonamassa, with a special guest performance from Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
