Heaven And Hell Announce Breaking Out Of Heaven 2007-2009

Heaven And Hell, the Ronnie James Dio-fronted incarnation featuring members of Black Sabbath, will have their final run together revisited in a new retrospective box set.

There was a closing of a chapter with Devil You Know, such a wonderful album, and it is prime Sabbath. “I think it was really sad,” Tony Iommi told MetalTalk in an interview before the Ronnie James Dio documentary. “Because we were really on a roll with Devil You Know. We were touring, and we were really enjoying it. I remember talking to Ronnie when we were in Japan.”

Tony and Ronnie went for dinner one night. “We said, look, we’re not going to say we’re going to go for five years,” Tony says, “we will just try it and see where it goes. We were done with the tour, and we loved it. We enjoyed it. We were in this restaurant, and I said to Ronnie, ‘Do you fancy doing anything more?'”

Ronnie enthusiastically said yes. “We’ve got to do another album,” Ronnie told Tony.

BMG will release Breaking Out Of Heaven 2007-2009 on 27 March 2026 in two major editions: a 4CD/Blu-ray boxed set and a 7LP vinyl boxed set. The collection focuses on the band’s 2007-2009 chapter, when Dio reunited with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice under the Heaven And Hell banner for a powerful late-era Heavy Metal run.

What’s Included

The set spans three key releases from the era:

  • The Devil You Know (2009)
  • Live From Radio City Music Hall (2007 performance)
  • Neon Nights: 30 Years Of Heaven And Hell – Live At Wacken (recorded on tour in Germany, 2009)

Both editions include an illustrated book with new liner notes by Hugh Gilmour, plus a replica tour book and poster. The release also marks the first time the complete Live From Radio City Music Hall performance will appear on vinyl, with additional tracks making their vinyl debut.

The Blu-ray expands the package further with concert video from Live From Radio City Music Hall and Neon Nights, plus band interviews and extras.

An HD-upscaled video of Bible Black is also available now.
