After the success of the first festival at The Green Rooms last year, they are back this weekend, celebrating their 16th Birthday. The gates are open at 3 pm today, Friday 1 August 2026, with the first band starting at 3:30 pm. This outdoor Heavy Metal show will include performances by South Wales Metal 2 The Masses winners Adfeilion, with Continents headlining.
Last year’s festival had headliners King Kraken on Friday and Ghosted on Saturday, ending with a surprise of pyro igniting the night sky after a red-hot weekend of grassroots bands showing off their talents and passions.
There were some hiccups and teething issues along the way, of course, being a live event. The tricky part was the last-minute reorganisation, after Eisteddfod left them high and dry. But with blood, sweat and tears of staff and volunteers alike, they pulled it off, and it was all worth it.
So here we go again to celebrate TGR’s sweet 16th, this time bigger, better and now an annual event. For Friday Saturday, Weekend an Family tickets are available from here.
Saturday with inclusivity, there is something for everyone. On the main stage outdoors, we will see grassroots original bands. New this year will be a second stage indoors on Saturday. The Acoustic Stage will see Pavilion Road doing a stripped version of their set, as well as a dance troupe and more. With no overlaps, you will not miss a thing.
Also new this year is a collaboration with young promoter Wilding Promotions, bringing you an EXTRA DAY of live music on Sunday. Sunday tickets are available from here. Hats off to Jonny Foxhall again for nurturing the grassroots industry, giving opportunities to bands to help them grow with these experiences that are often hard to come by. Johnny says these types of events were not available to him growing up.
Also collaborating again this year are UP TO 11 events and artist management. With food, fun, a licensed bar, free parking and new merch to remember the day, bring on the next hit of TGR fest. See you there.
What’s coming up after the festival?
The Green Rooms faces the usual bills and hardships that grassroots venues face. But they are here for the music and the people, so they will continue to work hard to keep bringing you these fun-filled events.
Please keep supporting these venues by buying tickets in advance, a drink, merch, showing up, even just sharing and liking a post on social media, can all make a difference.
There is a remodel in the works for the rehearsal spaces, new doors, which will greatly improve the soundproofing quality. There are exciting upcoming shows, with a surprise already booked in March 2026.
We will just say it’s someone who has played the main stage at Bloodstock.
To continue to nurture the younger generations, as they are the future, The Green Rooms will hold open mic afternoons for 7-16 year olds, with gear set up on stage ready to go. This has already encouraged friendships to form and perform together. Keep an eye on GreenRoomsWales.co.uk for more details as well as the MetalTalk Green Rooms Venue page.
