Dylan Gers To Debut New EP Melancholic Madman at Karma Sanctum

If Iron Maiden and Radiohead had a supergroup lovechild, this would be it. And it is! MetalTalk is excited to announce an exclusive live gig from Dylan Gers at Iron Maiden’s hotel home The Karma Sanctum in Soho.

Dylan Gers returns with a brand new gig on Tuesday 15 July 2025 to celebrate the drop of  Talisman, a searing, genre-blurring EP that dives headfirst into the dark undercurrent of blues folklore and distorted NWOBHM inspired modern rock.

I was super excited to meet up with Dylan Gers, who hails from Teesside, to chat about the gig, as well as the upcoming EP and single release. So, over a few cups of cappuccino at the hotel home of Metal, the Karma Sanctum Hotel in Soho, I caught up with Dylan Gers to chat.

“Talisman came from a place that felt almost ancestral with the homage to the devil at the crossroads,” says Gers. “It’s somewhat about bargaining with your demons, carrying your past like a charm. I wanted it to feel ancient and futuristic at the same time.”

For me, the track brings thunderous guitars, ritualistic energy, and illusive lyrics. With Noah Yorke on drums, aiding with his ever-enchanting drumming. Leaning into myth, shadow, and sonic chaos, Talisman is both an invocation and an exorcism – gritty, raw, and impossible to pin down.

This is a track that does not just bend genre – it breaks it wide open.

“My sound is atmospherical folky dark rock,” Dylan Gers said. “Melancholy and upbeat. My songwriting consists of stories and experience with ambiguity which you can take what you want from. Each song is an experience.”

Visually, Gers complements the release with a striking cover image that mirrors the sound.

With an ever-evolving band of brothers collaborating with Gers, including Noah Yorke on drums, cousin Louis Gers, and James Knott, plus an eclectic cast of other incredible musicians, this project from Dylan is exciting, relevant and most wanted.

Multi-talented Gers also plays the pheromone. I’ve only ever witnessed one other rock star performing on this unusual instrument, and that is the legendary Mike Patton from Faith No More.

Dylan hails the musical inspiration for his incredible songwriting from the icons that are Jeff Beck, Marc Bolan, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, and Deep Purple with the production and sounds of Nile Rodgers. And his guitar of choice is the Strat.

Me and a few other journo’s were talking over a pint last week about would there ever be any more new rock genres, and I can honestly say Gers is reinventing the rock wheel. Gers is masterful and mature and is unlike any other rock act on the scene right now.
