Deep Purple have announced the release of their new studio album Splat!, set for release on 3 July 2026 via earMUSIC. The album is described by frontman Ian Gillan as “music for the end of humanity (…but not as grim as it may seem)” and marks what the band call their heaviest album in many years.
With more than 120 million albums sold since forming in 1968, Deep Purple continue to build on one of the most influential legacies in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Rather than looking backwards, the band say Splat! captures the energy, dynamics and spirit that defined their classic early 1970s era.
“Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies,” Ian Gillan said.

The album reunites the band with acclaimed producer Bob Ezrin, whose previous work includes KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and Alice Cooper. According to Gillan, the new material recalls the feel of classic Deep Purple tracks such as Highway Star, Smoke On The Water and Lazy.
“I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with Highway Star, Smoke On The Water, Lazy, the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ’69 to ’73,” Gillan said.
At the core of Splat! is a concept developed by Gillan, exploring the end of humanity not as destruction but as transformation beyond physical existence. More details surrounding the album concept are expected in the lead-up to release.
Deep Purple will support the album with an extensive 2026 touring schedule featuring 86 shows across 28 countries and three continents.
Splat! will be released in multiple formats, including CD, black vinyl, limited purple vinyl, transparent yellow vinyl, digital editions and a deluxe box set featuring exclusive live recordings and bonus material. Pre-orders are available from deeppurple.lnk.to/SPLAT.
Tour tickets are available from AEG Presents.
