Cats In Space release heartbreakingly gorgeous 1,000,000 Miles duet version

Cats In Space have released their new single 1,000,000 Miles, along with an incredible video filmed four light-years west of Jupiter and in Surrey by James Heron. Released as a double A-side single, the filmed version is an amazing duet version featuring Cats’ vocalist Damien Edwards and the fabulous Julie Maguire, aka The Duchess from UK rockers Space Elevator.

1,000,000 Miles was written by Edwards and guitarist Greg Hart. The emotionally intense song has been one of the many highlights of their shows supporting their Kickstart The Sun album.

“This is heartbreakingly gorgeous,” said MetalTalk of the 1,000,000 Miles track in our album review. “The melody soars, underpinned by Andy Stewart’s compelling piano. The sense of loss and separation is palpable, and Damien Edwards’ vocal is wistful and yearning and 100% believable. Like Rocket Man but way better. It’s a tonic for world-weary old rockers like me who are averse to schmaltz and soppiness; there’s none of that here; it’s hard-hitting and the perfect antidote.” The album version is included on the marbled grey 7″ vinyl single.

“The production and artistry on display is sublime,” singer Damien Edwards says of 1,000,00 Miles. “Basically, it’s something I wanted to feel proud of, and everything about it makes me feel that. The lyric is somewhat whimsical, but at the same time, it means something to me… and who are we to argue with Ian Caple, who said it was an Oscar winning performance!”

“We knew early on this tune was always going to be a single,” Greg Hart said. “The crossover potential is huge, and I think, arguably, this is potentially the most universal Cats’ release ever. Everyone loves a ballad with real sentiment, and I believe that we have done just that thanks to Damien’s wonderful lyrics. The video is easily the most emotionally charged performance we have ever done, and James has captured real magic. There won’t be a dry eye in the house.”

Cats In Space host some special Christmas shows, including an exclusive two-set theatre performance in Milton Keynes.
