Little Angels will release Big Bad & Back on 6 November 2026, their first new material since 1994 and their first new music in 32 years. The five-track EP arrives as the band reunites for the Big Bad & Back UK and Ireland tour, with new single Hero (That Was Then, This Is Now) out now.
The project grew out of rehearsals for the tour. The band say making new music was not originally part of the plan, but new ideas from Toby Jepson began taking shape as the classic line-up played together again.
“We would never make a new record unless we felt we still had something to say and it turns out we do,” the band said. “Toby started writing new ideas and while we were rehearsing the set for the tour, we started to jam around this new material, and it just felt great.”
Following rehearsals in their hometown of Scarborough, Little Angels travelled to Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire to record the EP live as a band. The finished recordings were then sent to Vancouver to be mixed by Mike Fraser. The Vancouver connection reaches back to the band’s 1993 number one album Jam, which was mixed at Little Mountain Studios. Fraser, whose credits include Aerosmith, was chosen to mix the new material.
Toby Jepson says the writing reflects where the band are now rather than attempting to recreate their younger years. “This wasn’t about youth anymore, of course not, it’s about reflecting on where we had come from, and the kind of people we are now,” he said. “This is about returning home.”
