Anvil and Killer have issued a joint statement raising serious concerns over outstanding payments from the organisers of Hard Rock Hell, scheduled to take place in Chichester on 5 November 2026. Both Anvil and Killer say contractual deposits remain unpaid despite weeks of discussions and repeated assurances from the promoter. With the event just weeks away, the bands have warned that they will not perform unless the situation is resolved, while suggesting that other artists on the bill may be facing similar difficulties.
“As of today, we have not received the deposit payments required under our agreements,” a joint statement read, “despite these payments having been overdue for several weeks, if not months. We have held numerous discussions with the promoter in an effort to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, these discussions have so far resulted in repeated promises without any meaningful action.
“Having reached this point, we contacted other established bands on the festival bill. Based on responses received, it appears that several other artists are experiencing similar payment issues. Some bands are expected to arrange and pay for flights, crew, accommodation, and other essential touring expenses while still awaiting payment from the promoter.
“This situation is unacceptable and places unnecessary financial pressure on the artists who have committed to performing at this event.
“Furthermore, we have received communications from other promoters warning us of similar experiences involving outstanding payments for previous performances. These reports have only increased our concerns about the current situation.
“Let us be absolutely clear: we want to play this festival. We know that our fans are looking forward to the event, and we take our commitments to them seriously.
“However, professional relationships must be built on trust, accountability, and respect for contractual agreements. Without the agreed payments being made, it becomes increasingly difficult for bands to make the necessary financial and logistical arrangements required to perform.
“We understand that the festival has reportedly been sold out for approximately nine months. This raises a legitimate question: why are contracted artists still waiting for payments that have been due for weeks or months?
“We believe fans deserve transparency. If any band is ultimately unable to perform because these contractual obligations remain unfulfilled, responsibility for that situation must rest with the promoter, not with the artists who have been prepared and willing to honour their commitments.
“Anvil And Killer cannot continue to operate on promises alone. Unless the outstanding payments are received promptly, we will not perform at the Hard Rock Hell Festival on November 5, 2026. We understand that other bands may be forced to consider the same decision if their situations remain unresolved.
“We sincerely hope the promoter will take immediate action, honour the existing agreements, and transfer the outstanding funds without further delay. There is still an opportunity to resolve this matter professionally and ensure that the festival can proceed as planned.
“Our objective is not to disappoint fans or disrupt an event that so many people are looking forward to attending. Our objective is simple: to ensure that the bands are treated fairly, that contracts are respected, and that the commitments made to the artists are honoured.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and hope for an immediate and satisfactory resolution.”
Hard Rock Hell have been approached for a response.
