Tygers of Pan Tang / Studio outtake ‘Cruel Hands Of Time’ released today

NWOBHM stalwarts Tygers Of Pan Tang have today (21 August) released ‘Cruel Hands Of Time’, a studio outtake from from their 2012 album ‘Ambush’ and you can watch the video produced by Craig Ellis below.

Guitarist and Tygers founder Robb Weir told MetalTalk: “Everything has a time and a place, and for this little gem both have arrived…. All rise and prepare to rock out… We give you, ‘Cruel Hands of Time'”.

The 2012 sessions for ‘Ambush’ have some memories of loss. The album proved the last time the band would record with guitarist Dean Robertson and, more poignantly, the last time they were able to work with Chris Tsangarides.

Vocalist Jack Meille said: “I was so excited to meet and work with Chris Tsangarides. The week I spent in the studio with him marks a landmark in my musical career.

“Chris made me feel so comfortable and allowed me to discover the full potential of my voice. Thank you Chris, this remastered version of ‘Ambush’ is dedicated to you!”

For the ‘Ambush’ sessions, the band were in a good place, with a fine set of songs written and rehearsed and they were keenly awaiting working with Tsangarides again.

Guitarist Dean Robertson has said: “The ideas were good, very good in fact. I think the four of us were finally getting what the Tygers sound was and Robb was buzzing.”

The album was a real collective writing effort, with new bass player Gav Gray and long serving drummer Craig Ellis also contributing tracks.

Robb Weir says: “An Ambush is actually the collective name for a group of tigers in the wild.

“I felt that we were focussed and united on that record with a surging creative spirit so ‘Ambush’ seemed like the appropriate name for the album.”

‘Ambush’ will be re-issued on digital, digipack CD, black LP and orange LP (limited to 500) versions, by Mighty Music, on September 18th, 2020

Ambush Lineup:

Jacopo Meille – vocals
Robb Weir – guitars
Gav Gray – bass
Craig Ellis – drums
Dean Robertson – guitars
