Twister will release their new EP, Only The Strong Survive, on 21 October 2022 and will tour in October, giving fans the chance to watch an exclusive 30-minute acoustic set.
Their album Cursed & Corrected was released in November 2022 through Off Yer Rocka Recordings, leaving MetalTalk’s Brian Boyle describing early album riser tracks as “big and brassy and full of anthemic fizz and promise something special.”
If Twister were “a gluten-free Green Day with animated hooks hugging aggressive choruses,” noting it is “worth putting a couple of shillings on these boys making their presence felt,” then the excitement around these new songs praises Mr Boyle’s prophetic prose.
Following a UK headline tour in April, Twister recently released their new single Own Worst Enemy, which debuted at number two on the iTunes charts. “The headline UK Tour was a massive success and a great opportunity to showcase what we can bring to any event,” lead guitarist Jake Grimes said. “The video for Own Worst Enemy was shot at The Riverside in Newcastle on that tour and really does focus on the high energy performances we bring every time… never mind our custom-made Video Screen Marshall Cabs.”
Earlier in the year, the Newcastle four-piece released the single Don’t Play Nice. “We love the way the video look’s and has been shot,” the band said. “It’s all about getting up close and personal, capturing that raw, aggressive, live performance energy and vibe in a music video. If you’re new to Twister, it gives you a great idea of what we’re all about.”
This song peaked at number 3 on the iTunes charts. “The new material is seeing the band develop and take huge steps forward,” Grimes said, “not just as songwriters but sonically too. Working with someone of Romesh’s [Dodangoda] talent has helped us capture our vision for Twister. The new stuff is genuinely sounding epic.”
The October tour promises to be quite mouth-watering. The band are offering a VIP upgrade at all headline shows that allows the ticket holder access to an exclusive 30-minute acoustic set where Twister will be playing songs that haven’t made it into that night’s setlist.
“We’re just delighted to be getting straight back out there and going even bigger and better than last time,” Grimes says.
