The Raven Age / New album due ahead of December tour

The Raven Age emerge post-pandemic with a new album Exile and a live stream event in September 2021, with a tour of England and Scotland set for December, closing with a special show at Powerhaus in London.

Exile will be released on 17 September via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records. The eleven-track album contains two new original songs, fan favourites from their Conspiracy album, plus live tracks from their recent large tours.

“The concept for Exile is something we had been toying with for a while,” vocalist Matt James told MetalTalk. “We had done alternate acoustic style versions of songs before, and the response was so positive it made us think about doing a whole album this way.

“Obviously, The Raven Age is first and foremost a Metal band, but due to the melodic nature of our songs, they can lend themselves to this kind of treatment. We were pleasantly surprised how great so many of the songs sounded stripped back to their bare bones.”

Wait For Me

Wait For Me is one of the new songs on Exile. “Wait For Me is a song with a universal theme that nearly everyone can relate to,” Matt says. “It’s a deeply personal subject to me about how even when we are separated from our loved ones, the ties that bind us together will always bring us back eventually. Something I think that all of us have discovered through these trying times.”

As The World Stood Still

The band earlier shared the song As The World Stood Still, a reworking of The Day The World Stood Still from the album Conspiracy.

“We could all tell early on that As The World Stood Still lent itself perfectly to this kind of stripped back acoustic treatment used for Exile,” Matt says. “As soon as we performed it live for the first time, we knew we had something special.”

Live stream

The Year The World Stood Still, the band’s online event, will be held on 16 September, the eve of Exile’s release. The Raven Age will be accompanied by a string quartet and pianist, and the night will include a live Q&A session.
