Stryper / Giving “hope, inspiration and a light in the darkest of times”

Stryper return with their thirteenth studio album, ‘Even The Devil Believes’, later this September and it is the first studio album to feature Perry Richardson (Firehouse) on bass and backing vocals.

“We’re incredibly happy to write a new chapter in the book of Stryper,” Michael Sweet told MetalTalk. “This album was recorded during the pandemic and I believe the message pertains to the times we are living in so perfectly. It’s a recording of hope and inspiration and a light in the darkest of times.”

Sweet also produced the new album and while it is 35 years since the band emerged from the California night club scene, there is no rustiness in Stryper, but a focussed determination, collaborative spirit and spot on execution which prevails and bodes well for the future.

Sweet says: “It (‘Even The Devil Believes’) has an energy unlike any other album we’ve done. We even pulled a song from the past that has never been heard or released, and by doing so we brought a little bit of 1989 back into the mix.

“The music and lyrics are rock-solid. God really blessed this one and hopefully it will bless everyone who hears it as well”.

‘Even The Devil Believes’ is out 4 September 202 on Frontiers.
