Phil Mogg heart attack curtails UFO farewell tour

UFO has reported that Phil Mogg, 74, suffered a heart attack last week, resulting in stents placed in two arteries. A three-month rehabilitation period means that the October Last Orders tour has been cancelled.

“I have just got back from my doctors,” Phil said yesterday, “and obviously asked, amongst other things my resuming work, playing, touring, etc. She said most definitely not unless you want another heart attack. So there it is. I have to go on a rehabilitation program which starts in about six weeks and lasts for six weeks. Three months more or less. I certainly didn’t want to bow out in this fashion, as I am sure you chaps didn’t.”

At this point in time, it is unclear whether or not the dates will be postponed into 2023. “Most important now is that Phil recovers fully,” the band said. “Let’s see what the future will bring. Sorry for the bad news, but it is what it is.”

“It was a pleasure working with you all, and if we don’t meet again (for obvious reasons), I wish you all the best.”

MetalTalk and the whole rock world wish Phil a speedy recovery.

  1. A fan since 77 when I saw them play with Rush and Foghat! incredible show. I became a fan that night.
I love Moog’s voice as he’s not a screamer like most rock singers. He made me realize I could sing in
my own voice not copy anybody. He and UFO are so under rated in rock history! I met UFO many times
and have photos of them and my fav is me and Phil on beach in Biloxi. He was always nice and cool to fans.
I wish I could’ve seen the last 2 tours but I missed them. I was hoping to catch the last tour. I hope he
recovers and does some recordings of new material if not touring. He and UFO belong in rock hall of fame.
