Paul Di’Anno / Successful operation means Brazil tour announced

The leg operation for former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno was successfully conducted yesterday at the Traumatology Clinic of the Sisters of Mercy Clinical Hospital Center in Zagreb, Croatia. If the wound heals and there is no infection, he will no longer need a wheelchair.

The difficult and complex operation required the removal of the medical cement that connected the two bones on his right leg and a completely new custom bone and artificial knee implanted.

Paul’s recovery hopes are that he will be on his feet this week, released from the hospital in fifteen days. Following a period of walking exercises, physiotherapy and intensive recovery exercises, by the beginning of 2023, he should walk independently, without crutches.

Paul will return for dental surgery in October. This long process has been filmed by director Wes Orshoski (Lemmy) as part of a new documentary film.

After some funds for the treatment were raised by fans earlier this year, Kastro Pergjoni, Cart & Horses owner, announced that Iron Maiden would fund the remaining costs of his treatment.

Former Iron Maiden artist Derek Riggs, working with Maiden Croatia, has produced new artwork to be printed on a t-shirt and a special certificate.

Providing there are no setbacks, the doctor has given Paul the green light to perform at the Keep it True festival in Germany. Dates have been announced for 2023 in Brazil, with more Central and South American shows yet to be announced.
