Matt Tuck / Bullet 2.0 “is a far more aggressive, intense part of Bullet For My Valentine”

Bullet For My Valentine, who recently headlined the Download Festival Pilot event at Donington Park, will release their seventh studio album on 22 October 2021 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy. The band hit the UK for a seven date tour starting at the end of October.

The third single, Shatter, has been released today and follows on from Knives and Parasite and shows the band going “back to basics” and promises the delivery of an album with an even more aggressive style.

Matt Tuck began writing the album Bullet For My Valentine in September 2019, before COVID-19 brought things to a dramatic halt. In June 2020, he and long-time producer Carl Bown, who co-produced the band’s 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, camped at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield to finish the writing, and the results are awe-inspiring.

Bullet 2.0

“This is the beginning of Bullet 2.0,” vocalist and lead guitarist Matt Tuck told us. “It signifies where we are right now. The music is fresh. It’s aggressive. It’s more visceral and passionate than it’s ever been.”

Bullet For My Valentine played their biggest shows to date, with a UK arena tour and a massive show at London’s Alexandra Palace in November 2018, but with this new self-titled album, the band have taken things back to basics and will deliver an album packed with huge solos and monstrous riffs.

“I think it’s the most ferocious side of Bullet For My Valentine that I’ve ever known,” says lead guitarist Michael ‘Padge’ Paget. “It’s time for us to put out a really angry, heavy, aggressive record. I just can’t wait to grimace on stage.”

Tuck agrees, saying, “I wanted to come out guns blazing, fucking middle fingers flying, and just go for the throat. I think this is a far more aggressive, intense part of Bullet For My Valentine. It’s always been there. I’ve just never opened the floodgates on it. I want to take people’s heads off in a metaphorical way.”

Hella Rock Festival

The second single, Parasite, featuring a video directed by Fiona Garden, has been described by the band as “an absolute RAGER from start to finish. Easily one of the gnarliest tracks we’ve ever written — we couldn’t be more stoked to get it out there finally.”

Intensity and fury

“For Parasite, we just wanted to let the song rip,” says director Fiona Garden. “The intensity and fury of the track tears along, pure performance and vitality. Along the way, in a world defined by blinding light and the phenomenal graphic work of artist Carl Addy, we see this new infinite incarnation of the avatar aM cuts being ritualistically infected and drawn further into limitless oblivion. No locusts were harmed in the making of this video.

The third single, Shatter, has been released today. “We’re very excited for you all to hear our new track, Shatter,” the band says. “It’s one of our personal favourites, and we’re pretty sure it’ll be one of yours. It’s an absolute sledgehammer of a track with riffs for days. Let the headbanging commence.”

The emotional and instinctive film is a collaboration between Matt Tuck, Fiona Garden and her husband, Ben Ashton. Using tactile optical elements, smashing endless panes of glass, and getting covered in oily black paint, Tuck worked hands-on with Garden and Ashton to create a physical mood that was both “cavernous and claustrophobic.”

“These hypnotic abstract visuals were then fed into the fearsome and instinctive creative machine behind Knives and Parasite [editor Sara Faulkner and VFX artist Gabriel Thomas Ayache],” Fiona told us. “The clip features, as always, the design edge of Carl Addy (ulcerboy).”

Bullet For My Valentine can be pre-ordered from https://bfmv.tmstor.es/ Special bundle options are available, including a unique clipping from the backdrop used on the band’s Venom world tour from 2015-2017, t-shirts, hoodies, gold and silver cassettes, and limited vinyl.

The band have also launched an official fan club, the Army Of Noise, via Patreon.

The band have crashed through one billion US streams alone and having sold over three million albums worldwide, with three going gold.
