K.K. Downing and Les Binks join Judas Priest for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

K.K. Downing and Les Binks joined Judas Priest on stage at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday evening as the band were inducted into the not very Heavy Metal friendly Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Richie Faulkner, Rob Halford, Ian Hill, Glenn Tipton and Scott Travis were joined by Les Binks, K.K. Downing for a three-song medley of You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, Breaking The Law and Living After Midnight.

Alice Cooper introduced the performance, describing Judas Priest as “the definitive Metal band.”

“They defined the sound we know of Heavy Metal,” Cooepr said, “and their sound is unmistakable. And what can you say about Rob Halford’s voice? Never have screams covered such a range. Is there any emotion that he can’t express?”

Rob Halford, who described himself as “the gay guy in the band,” said, “We live for Heavy Metal.”

He recognised the mutual support of all who follow Heavy Metal. “We call ourselves the Heavy Metal community,” Halford said, “which is all-inclusive, no matter what your sexual identity is, what you look like, or what you believe in or don’t believe in. Everybody’s welcome.”

Halford, Hill, Tipton, Downing, Binks and late drummer Dave Holland were inducted alongside current drummer Scott Travis.
