Generation Landslide released their debut album, Ruling The Street Scene, in November 2022, commemorating everything you love about late ’80s/early ’90s hard rock. Big hooks, catchy guitar riffs and memorable choruses, this album has everything you could ask for.

Words: Taylor Cameron

Consisting of Cold Sweats drummer Anthony White on lead guitar and vocals, ex-Lillian Axe member Ken Koudelka on drums, Sandy Stein on guitar and Jonathan Swanson on bass, this quartet of musicians have created an album that will transport you back to the days you were headbanging in your bedroom listening to your favourite cassette.

GENERATION LANDSLIDE - Little Miss Lonely

A crunchy guitar tone and heavy bass drum kick off the album Little Miss Lonely catching your attention within seconds. The electrifying nuances of the late ’80s hard rock sound are prominent, creating the perfect picture of what’s to come right out of the gate, their tight musicianship bringing the heat. Followed by the first single, Feel The Sensation, and the energy stays strong. A unique bass groove fills the bridge, a beat you can feel in your soul.

Switching gears halfway through, Love And Pain shows off the acoustic side of the band. White’s soft vocals pair beautifully with the acoustic melody before building up in the pre-chorus, a classic power ballad technique that never gets old. A melodic guitar solo that you feel in your soul and lyrical content you can relate to, this track has everything you could ask for and could easily be mistaken for a track released in the early 1990s.

The latter half of the album stays on a unique path. With tracks such as Are You Out There with its classic rock sound, Sweet Ellie May having prominent blues influences, and the feel-good acoustic track Me And You, Generation Landslide bring an array of influences to the table with their debut album. Closing out the album with a Whitesnake-sounding track called Standing In The Rain’, it definitely ends on a high note. This track sums up the album perfectly and leaves you wanting more.

A strong album from start to finish, Generation Landslide have created something both old and new Hair Metal fans can enjoy. The perfect mix of feel-good electric guitar-driven tracks and stripped-back power ballads, Ruling The Street Scene is a must-listen for any fan of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
