Dan Byrne leaves Revival Black, Kim Jennett to guest

Revival Black, whose second album Under The Light was released less than two weeks ago, have parted company with lead singer Dan Byrne. Kim Jennett will guest on vocals for the remaining shows.

“After five years of creating some of the best hard rock n roll together, that resulted in two acclaimed albums, Step In Line and the recent Under The Light, singer Dan Byrne has decided to step back from his duties with Revival Black and work on new projects,” a statement from the band read.

Under The Light was described by MetalTalk’s Paul Hutchings as “a fine slab of hard rock that establishes the band as one of the big guns in the current new wave of classic rock.”

Byrne’s vocal prowess was described as magical, with Paul declaring that the band had a vocalist whose delivery and range was such that he was destined to become a big player in the scene.

“We (Alan, Adam, Jamie and Ash) plan to continue Revival Black’s journey,” the statement read, “and to seek a new vocalist to spearhead the band. That search has already begun. We also plan to fulfil all forthcoming shows with a guest vocalist (see more below). The only show we will need to cancel/reschedule is Cardiff, as it’s unfortunately too soon. Sorry. However, the date itself is still going ahead, just without us.

“All other shows are going ahead, and we plan to rock your souls harder than we have ever done before. We wish Dan all the very best, we created some awesome music together, but now we look forward and hope to announce our new front person in due course.”

The search for a guest vocalist was quick, with Kim Jennett, known for her earth-shattering bluesy howl and feral stage presence, announced.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kim into the RB family for a run of shows for the rest of 2022. You will know Kim from her solo work, her band Voodoo Blood and her sessions with Myke Gray.

“She is a quality singer and awesome front woman, who was at the top of our thoughts when Dan stepped down. Kim was delighted to step in and help us for this run of shows. So, it’s a match made in rock ‘n’ roll heaven, and we are all already rehearsing hard to bring you the best god damn show ever.

“We’ll be delivering the best of our debut album, Step In Line, alongside some killer tracks from our recent #2 Rock Charts album, Under The Light. Seriously, we are fired up and ready to roll. You won’t want to miss it.”
