Chester Bennington, Linkin Park frontman, passed away yesterday evening (Thursday 20th July 2017) UK Time, apparently by suicide. He was 41-years-old.

Joey Napoli, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department told the Los Angeles Times:

"Firefighters received a call at around 9am LA Time regarding a cardiac arrest in the 2800 block of Via Victoria in Palos Verdes Estates, Los Angeles county.

"Firefighters arrived and cleared the scene by 9.29am.

At the time, police would not confirm or deny a published report that the singer hanged himself but it is now being widely reported that the singer hung himself.

TMZ are reporting that according to law enforcement sources, Bennington was at home and alone at the time he died and a housekeeper discovered his body. However, Palos Verdes Estates police Captain Mark Velez told Daily Breeze that no suicide note was found.

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park said via Twitter:

"Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one."

Chester married Talinda Bentley in 2006 and the couple have three children. Chester has three children from previous relationships.

After Chris Cornell's death in May, Bennington wrote a heartfelt message saying he couldn't imagine the world without his late friend in it.

Bennington's body was found on what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Cornell's wife, Vicky, tweeted:

"Just when I thought my heart couldn't break anymore."
