TYTAN TO PLAY BURR FEST 2020

Burr Fest 2020 takes place at The Dome in London’s Tufnell Park on Saturday 7th March 202. It is our great pleasure to announce the third act to join the bill – Tytan.

Kaine were announced on Sunday and Airforce were announced by Cloven Hoof yesterday, Monday 2nd September. The remaining acts will be announced by TotalRock tomorrow, Wednesday 4th September.

Tytan were formed in 1981 by former Angel Witch members Kev Riddles and Dave Dufort and released their debut EP ‘Blind Men And Fools’ in 1982. Dave Dufort was replaced by former Judas Priest drummer Les Binks and guitarist Steve Mann joined the band in time for the recording of their debut album, ‘Rough Justice’, which was recorded in 1982-1983.

Unfortunately, the label folded before the album’s release and the band split in the summer of 1983. The album remained unheard until 1985 when the London-based label, Metal Masters, acquired the tapes.

Fast-forward to 2012 and the band were asked to reunite to perform at Keep It True XV Festival in Germany. The band returned with Kev Riddles, Steve Gibbs and Steve Mann being joined by vocalist Tom Barna, keyboardist Andrew Thompson and Angel Witch drummer Andrew Prestidge.

Following the festival appearance Tytan continued to perform with a few changes behind the drums until Gibbs and Mann both departed in late 2014. They were replaced by current guitarist, Dave Strange (Midnight Messiah).

Tytan released their second album, ‘Justice Served’, on High Roller Records in 2017.

Tony Coldham (Deep Machine/The Deep) took over vocal duties for just over a year, departing in October 2018, when he was replaced by Grant Foster.

With the new look line-up, Tytan are preparing to return to the studio, to record their third album.

Check out ‘The Watcher’ from ‘Rough Justice’ right here. Also ‘Band Of Brothers’ from Airforce and ‘Crisis Of Faith’ from Kaine. Tune in to TotalRock tomorrow to find out who will complete the Burr Fest 2020 line-up.

Burr Fest 2020 tickets will be on sale from 9.00am Friday 6th September right here with a limited presale available now right here.

Burr Fest is an annual charity concert, held in memory of the late former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr who played on the first three sensational Maiden albums.

With no less than eight former Maiden members attending the Burr Fest launch party, it remains the largest reunion of former Iron Maiden members to date. The response led to Doug Sampson rejoining Airforce after twenty years, to record new material which appeared on the group’s career-retrospective album, ‘Judgement Day’, which was released by WatchOut Records.

What started out as a bit of a dream became a reality on 26th May 2017. The very first Burr Fest was held at The Lounge in London’s Archway. To say that the response was overwhelming, would be a major understatement.

Despite the event originally being planned as a one-off, straight after their sets two bands asked if they could return in 2018, with many fans asking when the next event would take place.

For the 2019 event, Burr Fest moved to The Dome in Tufnell Park. With a line-up including Maiden uniteD and Praying Mantis, the gig received nothing but positive feedback and had the highest attendance yet.

With an even bigger and better bill in 2020, this promises to be the best Burr Fest yet. And there’s more…

Burr Fest recently announced that former Iron Maiden roadie, Steve Loopy Newhouse, is now an official part of the Burr Fest team.

Steve brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from a life on the road, spanning over forty years. He first teamed up with Iron Maiden back in September 1978, travelling the length and breadth of the UK in the now infamous Green Goddess.

During his time with the band Steve served as drum tech, first to Doug Sampson and then to Clive Burr. You can check out his memoirs of his time with Maiden, ‘Loopyworld – The Iron Maiden Years’ right here.

See you at Burr Fest 2020 at The Dome, Tufnell Park, London on Saturday 7th March.
