Orlando titans Alter Bridge will release their highly anticipated sixth studio album, ‘Walk The Sky’, on October 18th via Napalm Records.

The Listening Party, which by tradition will take place in Alter Bridge home town, Orlando, Florida in September will kick off a mastodonic semi-worldwide tour which will take the band to both hemispheres.

The US leg will be a co-headline with fellow Tennessee rockers Skillet, supported by Dirty Honey, while the European tour will follow in the winter of 2019 with Shinedown, Sevendust and The Raven Age supporting.

‘Walk The Sky’ comprises fourteen brand new songs and will once again be produced by long-time Alter Bridge producer Michael Elvis Baskette.

During an interview with Kerrang Magazine, singer and guitarist Mark Tremonti describes the tone of the album as “an old school synth-wave kinda vibe, almost come out of a John Carpenter movie”.

He also reiterates how the band always strive to find new sources of inspiration and not repeat themselves, which becomes a whole lot harder when you already have several successful numbers under your belt.

First single released is ‘Wouldn’t You Rather’, which saw the light on June 28th. Check it out here.

With an opening offering plenty of tension and a melody line which is a cheeky introduction to what you will soon identify as the bridge of the song, the initial bottom heavy note that Marshall plucks explodes right in your face, as if to open the curtains for the meaty riff that then follows.

Now enter Tremonti with one of his signature killer lines, while a solid, thumping rhythm section backs it all up and a true blinder is surely born.

Undoubtedly, the song catches you by surprise. Where you would expect a natural explosion following the build up, the chorus, instead, takes you somewhere else entirely. An unpredictable juxtaposition of heavy and melodic, intense and light, but that simply works.

Certainly a grower, however, once caught, you can’t help but becoming hooked; the vocal line so catchy, you will find yourself singing it only after a few plays.

Overall, ‘Wouldn’t You Rather’ evokes the heavier, darker tones of the fourth Alter Bridge studio album ‘Fortress’, however it replaces the past gloom with lyrics of hope and elevation.

A definite thumbs up and as the single clearly demonstrates, the dynamic quartet with the Midas touch have struck gold again. The imminent release sounds extremely promising, the anticipation truly is palpable and catching the live action will be an absolute treat.
