Edition fifty nine of Cum On Feel The Newz.

As this week's edition was going to press, news came in of the passing of Sir Bruce Forsyth - entertainment legend and grandfather of former Voodoo Six vocalist Luke Purdie. Among his myriad achievements Bruce released a single in 1959 called 'I'm In Charge'. The song isn't Metal, but we like the sentiment. Thank you and Farewell Bruce - safe travels.

Let's do this...

Syteria, featuring Jackie Chambers of Girlschool and previously Blitzkrieg, have announced a special show at Glasgow's Hard Rock Café on Thursday 23rd November which will be a warm up show for the band's subsequent appearance at the Winter Storm Festival held in Troon on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November.

This will be the band's first appearance in the centre of Glasgow, having previously played The Bungalow in Paisley back in October 2016 as part of their debut UK tour.

Joining Syteria on the bill for this special show are Till Death Do Us Part fronted by American vocalist Emily Tate who has teamed up with Scottish born musician, Kieran Robertson to create a new type of synthetic heavy rock. Under the guise of Till Death Do Us Part, Tate's dark and sombre lyrics paired easily with the emotional musical creations of Robertson. The band recently supported ex-Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate's Operation: Mindcrime band in the US and this will be their debut UK show.

The final band on the bill are local band Black King Cobra who opened the recent New Blood II showcase event at Glasgow's Hard Rock Café. The band, fronted by Callum Moran, have solid local support and are known for producing solid and entertaining performances.

The Darkness have today released their expletive-drenched new single 'Solid Gold' via Cooking Vinyl, accompanied by a video of the self-proclaimed rock legends performing in a huge aircraft hanger amongst a mass of glam-rock lighting and Marshall speaker stacks.

Frontman Justin Hawkins announces, "We have written this song to reassure you all that having now released more music in the period after our well publicised hiatus than in the period before it, we have no intention whatsoever of stopping. Hence the lyric "We're never gonna stop... Shitting out solid gold". Barring any unforeseen circumstances, The Darkness will always be here to delight and beguile. You're welcome."

An absolute monster of a rock song, 'Solid Gold' takes no prisoners whatsoever, taking direct aim at the music industry and addressing record companies, egos and the insincerity that comes with it. It will make uncomfortable listening for A&R men everywhere…

As Lions have delivered a slice of hard rock brilliance with the new video for their latest single 'Selfish Age'. The track exudes ferocious energy, featuring soaring vocals, introspective lyrics and grinding synth lines that swell into an electrifying chorus.

'Selfish Age' is also the title track of their debut album, released earlier this year to rave reviews. The video includes footage captured on the road at Rock On The Range (US), Graspop (Belgium) and Nova Rock (Austria), featuring reflective shots of the band juxtaposed with rabid, clamouring crowds at their explosive live shows.

With the announcement of UK headline tour dates for November where they will hit the road with Greyhaven, As Lions are also showing their support for the local scene by launching the Nine Lives competition, where local bands can win the chance to support the band in their hometown. Not only that but the winning bands will be supported across social media, YouTube and Spotify by As Lions, Raw Power Management and leading record company Eleven Seven.

To enter, bands need to live and play locally to one of the venues listed on the tour. They should email links to their latest music and videos, a brief band biog and their social media links to: aslionsband@gmail.com. Closing date is Sept 8th.

As Lions UK Tour dates:
14th Nov: Leicester Firebug, UK
15th Nov: Norwich Waterfront, UK
16th Nov: London Old Blue Last, UK
18th Nov: Bridgend Hobos, UK
19th Nov: Newcastle Jumpin' Jacks, UK
20th Nov: Glasgow Garage Attic, UK
22nd Nov: Stoke Sugarmill, UK
23rd Nov: Manchester Rebellion, UK
24th Nov: Leeds Key Club, UK

Anti-Flag have released the new song 'Racists' in wake of the violence that occurred last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The band's statement reads:

"We stand in solidarity with those fighting racism and fascism in the streets of Charlottesville and beyond. We believe it is time for the removal of all monuments to the confederacy and the racism for which they stand. We must put these symbols of white supremacy into places where the proper context can be provided for what they actually are; outdated, backwards, and antithetical to what we believe the values of humanity should be.

"It is past time to have real conversations on systemic racism and America's history of it. There are museums memorializing the Holocaust all across Europe, while America continues to try to hide from its racist and murderous past and present." - Anti-Flag.

UK alt-rockers Go Primitive have released the video for their brand new single 'I Want More'. Shot in a dimly lit room, the accompanying video features the band playing amid glaring strobes, surrounding an ominous figure hooded and bound on a chair in a Houdini-esque struggle to break free.

The band explains,"'I Want More' is a song about the relentless drive, passion and desire to get our voices heard no matter what it takes. The video is about breaking through mental barriers and obstacles to get what you want from life."

Produced by respected rock/metal/pop producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral For A Friend, Motorhead) it's the first taste of their upcoming debut album Choices, due early 2018.

We last caught up with Glasgow based North Atlas back in April when they supported Scotland's self-styled "next rock superstar", Kieran Robertson at the city's famous King Tuts and they've not been idle in the meantime - their new single, 'Another Ocean' is due for release on Friday 8th September via King Of The Woöds Recordings.

The track is about moving on and starting again, written after of the end of a relationship, with the lyrics reflecting the feelings of self doubt, isolation and misery, combined with anthemic pop-rock melodies and soaring choral harmonies. Vocalist Leon D Hunter told us:

"The uncertainty of the future is an endless ocean in-front of you. This makes you feel like you're an imperfect person among a sea of people who from the outside seem to be doing well. You become a cast away, who arrives at a separate island to that of your former life."

The band comprises of brothers and founding members Leon and Cam (Drums) along with Drew Lesslie on guitar and bass player Kai Cairney with whom they have developed a more prominent electronic sound. The band have been together since 2016 and feel ready to embark on bigger and better things to come.

The 'Another Ocean' single was produced by Dan Wellar (Enter Shikari) who helped North Atlas continue to create the authentic electronic-rock sound they've been honing and now feel ready to embark on bigger and better things to come.

Two piece UK band Victorient who recently released their 'Revolutions Part One' via Raphaelite Records are planning a Facebook Live Q&A on Saturday 19th August, taking questions directly from their fans.

The duo are a unique find, being a strange mixture of musical influences with a dash of the dark romantic Goth, a little bit of rock, a nice helping of Doom Metal and a strike of electronic eighties keyboard sounds.

You can tune in from 7pm GMT/8pm CET/2pm Eastern Time/11am LA Time/3pm Canda Maritime/5am Australian Time at www.facebook.com/victorientband to find out what makes the band tick and to see what future plans they have in store.

Steve Hill, the one-man band blues rock machine, will release his album 'Solo Recordings: Volume 3' on No Label Records in the UK on Friday 6th October 2017. To support the release, Steve will support Wishbone Ash on their 27-date October and November UK tour.

When it comes to one-man bands, guitarist and singer extraordinaire Steve Hill has no limits. Anything goes. He is the true exponent of a one-man band. Steve performs standing up while singing and playing guitar, his feet playing bass drum, snare drum, hi-hats and with a drum stick fused to the head of his trusty guitar, any other percussion within reach.

Steve's an overnight sensation that's 20 years in the making. He's an ambitious and raucous force to be reckoned with on the Canadian and international blues-rock scene. Now, he's ready to break out internationally. Have a listen to the new single Dangerous to hear for yourself:

10 Years return with the new studio album '(how to live) AS GHOSTS'. The band's eighth studio album was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Deftones, KoRn, Mastodon) and will be released on 27 October via Mascot Records.

Sometimes when band members reunite, it's as if no time has passed and nothing has changed. That couldn't be further from the truth for 10 Years. When guitarist/drummer Brian Vodinh and guitarist Matt Wantland returned to the Knoxville, Tennessee alt-metal/post-grunge band for their eighth album and Mascot Records debut, '(how to live) AS GHOSTS', they burst through their comfort zones to create something new. Something better. Something career-defining.

Singer Jesse Hasek reflects, "It's funny. I named our last record 'From Birth to Burial' (2015) because I thought it was our final record. It just didn't feel like 10 Years without Brian and Matt, and having them back is really a reunion of the core writing team. This new record actually feels like a real rebirth for the band."

Bardic Black Metallers Crafteon have announced additional show dates in support of their debut 'Cosmic Reawakening' on August 25th, which includes opening for Inquisition and UADA in their home town Denver on September 7th.

Crafteon is the conception of vocalist and guitarist Lord Mordiggian whom has been inspired to create an entire album influenced by his favourite writer H.P. Lovecraft. Their debut features eight tracks based on classic H.P. Lovecraft tales such as 'The Outsider', 'Dagon' and 'From Beyond'.

Ahead of The Haunted's new studio album 'Strength In Numbers' which is set for worldwide release on 25th August via Century Media Records, the critically acclaimed Swedish Thrash Metallers are unleashing a video for new song 'Preachers Of Death'.

The band commented about the track: "'Preachers Of Death' is the third video from the new album 'Strength In Numbers'. It's a stomping number with all the elements of a true The Haunted song. Turn it up and stretch your neck, cause this is a banger."

The album is available for pre-order now, in multiple formats including several limited editions.

Sydney's Sienna Skies are about to head out on the road alongside Hawthorne Heights and River Oaks (Shane Told from Silverstein's solo project) across Australia. To celebrate, they are today dropping a video for single 'There's No Place Like...' from their 2016 album "A Darker Shade of Truth" (InVogue Records).

The five-piece have been busy in 2017, having toured through the United Kingdom and Europe earlier in the year and Japan in late 2016/early 2017.

Today they are releasing the videoclip for 'There's No Place Like'. The picturesque filmclip features the band playing on a farm and on a massive rocky outcrop in the Australian bush. The real star of the clip is a Yellow Labrador dog totally having the BEST time and being a total GOOD BOY, playing in the river and with his ball.

Portugal's Dark Metal pioneers Moonspell are finally back with a brand new and hotly anticipated album, titled '1755'. Set to be released on November 3rd 2017 on Napalm Records, this record will outclass all previous standards.

Sung in Portuguese '1755' is more than just the band's new magnum opus: It's the musical version of the year of horror where a giant earthquake wrecked their home Lisbon.

Frontman Fernando Ribeiro told us: "I have been fascinated with Portuguese history since I can remember. The year of 1755 marked the birth of a new Portugal. Much more than just the greatest natural disaster ever to occur on European soil, the great Lisbon Quake, shockwaves can not be reduced to a dramatic death toll. From absolute tragedy, a new city was born, giving way to a new time where Portuguese relied more on themselves than on the crown or the cross, granting us, much of the city, the lay country, the free will that we enjoy today.

This is not just another album from us. It's a musical and lyrical history document, a homage we pay to our legacy and to the amazing skills and resilience of our fellow Portuguese back then, of all mankind when brought down to the knees by the violent forces of Nature and Reason. Whatever is, is right... yet the earth shakes."

Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of British Heavy Metal act Savage Messiah, who will release their fourth full-length album, entitled 'Hands Of Fate', on October 27th, with a video for the title track released today.

Jens Prueter (Head Of A&R, Century Media Records Europe) comments on the signing: "We are very happy to welcome Savage Messiah to Century Media Records. It's great to see that a young band can combine the best of old classics from Iron Maiden to Metallica with a fresh approach and, most importantly, excellent songs that can stand the test of time. The birthplace of Heavy Metal can be proud about its New Generation Of British Heavy Metal (NGOBHM)."

The band adds: "We're so pleased to announce teaming up with Century Media Records. This represents a big step for Savage Messiah and we look forward to working on our new album together and taking the band to the next level and beyond!"

Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group are thrilled to announce the signing of 90s progressive Metal adventurers Galactic Cowboys who return with the original line up and their first album in 17 years.

Dane Sonnier (Guitar), Ben C. Huggins (Vocals), Alan Doss (Drums/Keyboards) and Monty Colvin (Bass) are strapped in, heading back to the Ranch on Mars and are recording together for the first time since 1993's 'Space In Your Face', to rain down a sonic meteor shower later this year.

Monty Colvin shares, "I am very excited to restart the artistic engine of Galactic Cowboys and bring the universe new music! We're looking forward to a great working relationship with Mascot!"

"We said we'd only come back if the world needed us. When Mascot sent out the distress call we knew it was time to return. Get ready world. Here come Galactic Cowboys!" adds Ben C Huggins.

Surrey-based garage rock trio Gold Phoenix have unleashed a brand new single and accompanying video for 'Lotion'.

It includes chucking paint around and throwing up on drummers. We like it already.

Crossover-hardcore/Metal/rap phenomenon, Siberian Meat Grinder from Moscow, Russia have announced the release of the long-awaited second album, 'Metal Bear Stomp', to be released through the Berlin-based label Destiny Records on 13th October 2017.

Bringing their cross-genre game to the next level, Siberian Meat Grinder have delivered an explosive sonic mix over the 12 tracks of 'Metal Bear Stomp' that will have you headbanging, slam dancing, finger pointing and throwing down throughout.

Vocalist Vladimir said "It's our step towards creating an ultimate street-music, mixing everything we love – thrash-metal, hip-hop, hardcore punk, graffiti..."

Together with the one of the largest Russian crowd-funding platforms PLANETA.RU, Siberian Meat Grinder have launched a massive charity action, attached to the release of 'Metal Bear Stomp'. Alongside all profits going to "A Gift To The Angel" foundation, which helps children with cerebral palsy, fans are able to pick up limited edition lines of merchandise, signed CDs and LPs by the band and many more exclusives.
