30th June 2017

Edition fifty three of Cum On Feel The Newz.

In 1980 the B-52's released the track '53 Miles West Of Venus'. In hindsight that was probably a portent of the last time we took the wrong branch of the Northern Line and then had to get an Uber...

Let's do this...

Nothing More
Chains Over Razors
Ye Banished Privateers
A Promise To Forget
We Are The Catalyst

On Friday, July 7th, 2017 KillSET is throwing a release party for their new album, 'S.T.F.U.' Starting at 9:30pm, The upstairs at The Rainbow Bar & Grill, Los Angeles, will be taken over by DJ Will spinning the new album in full.

Jes Fama from 'Almost Fama' will be hosting the evening's activities. There will be a photo-op in front of the band's logo, the new videos looped on the TVs throughout the venue, and tons of giveaways such as signed CDs, pictures, stickers & shirts.

"We are so excited and humbled to be doing our CD release/listening party at the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill! Everyone is invited out to come celebrate the release of our new album, S.T.F.U., and party it up KillSET style!"

Walter Trout will be releasing his brand new studio album 'We're All In This Together' on September 1st via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. The album features a stellar cast of guests; John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Bachman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, Charlie Musselwite, Mike Zito, Robben Ford, Eric Gales, Edgar Winter, Joe Louis Walker , John Németh and his son Jon Trout.

Drafting fourteen A-list stars – and writing an original song for each - Trout has made the most tantalising album of the year, and found solace after a run of solo albums that chronicled his near-fatal liver disease of 2014. "Now was the right time for this record," he says. "Battle Scars [2015] was such an intense piece of work, written with tears coming down my face. I needed a break from that, to do something fun and light-hearted. This album was joyous for me.

"I'm 66 years old" he considers, "but I feel like I'm in the best years of my life right now. I feel better than I have in years physically. I have more energy. I have a whole different appreciation of being alive, of the world, of my family, of my career. I want life to be exciting and celebratory. I want to dig in. I want to grab life by the balls and not let go, y'know…?"

Catch Walter on tour in the UK in October.

Hugely engaging heavy rock crew We Are The Catalyst continue their surge with the release of their new video single, 'One More Day'.

Formed in November of 2012, the Swedish band has been described as many things, from Alternative Metal and Emotional Rock, to Electronic Rock, or even Pop Metal. In June 2015, WATC won first prize in a competition to perform at Bloodstock Open Air alongside Trivium, Sabaton, Within Temptation and more, as well as opening for Delain at their Birmingham show on their UK tour.

Following headline tours and other prestigious festival appearances, We Are The Catalyst released their sophomore album 'Elevation' in 2016 and are currently working on their new album, which will include this new single.

Dirty Thrills formed after a drunken night of jamming in a quiet village pub in Wiltshire, but what started out as an inconspicuous session swiftly birthed an ambitious group with the drive and determination to bring the glory days back to the rock scene.

Having released and toured a self-titled debut record in 2014, the band recently signed to Italian powerhouse label Frontiers Music Srl and played the UK's Camden Rocks and Wildfire Festivals in June as part of the build-up to their new single, 'Law Man', which Louis James describes as "a song written about a fight for freedom, only to be struck down by the 'Law Man', a figure of austerity. Written through the eyes of a victim, a story unfolds in tragic circumstances. The song is poignant for the world and society that we live in...

"The energy you see in the video is what we aim to deliver at every show. The presence and "in your face" attitude that we've displayed both physically and musically is a perfect way topic off the new album. We've waited a long time to finally let this song out of its cage…enjoy folks."

Flynn Effect are giving their new dark and brooding filmclip to the world and releasing the details of their tour for second album 'Obsidian', which will be available for purchase on August 4 and can be pre-ordered now at Bandcamp.

The pyro-and-makeup-heavy filmclip for single 'Fade' sets the tone for the album and shows all and sundry just what Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are in store for when Flynn Effect hits their town (probably minus the Pyros, though!).

The short but excellent tour takes in Sydney's The Factory Floor on Friday August 11 with Gods of Eden, Mercury Sky and Reign on Mars; Melbourne's iconic The Workers Club Sunday August 13 with Caution:Thieves, Enlight and Terrestrials, and hometown Brisbane on Friday August 18 at The Brightside with Mercury Sky, Seraphic and Periapsis.

Lead singer Tomina Vincent told us that she is proud of the effort that went into this filmclip - "We wanted the film clip to be a sort of opposite to the song. Its a very hopeful and upbeat track, but we wanted to add a little bit of darkness and theatre to it - its what we love and basically what Flynn Effect is all about. It was filmed it over 12 hours in freezing cold, lights exploded, the fire brigade almost fined us. There were unplanned explosions, bruises, we couldn't wash the fake blood off for days, I nearly fainted several times, but It was a lot of fun!

Balloons Kill Babies are peeling back the illusion of reality with their brand new song 'Illuzia'. Today they are rolling out a filmclip for the song and announcing their launch party for the song at The Foundry, Brisbane on Saturday July 22 - alongside their mates Kodiak Empire, Red In Tooth and Inovo.

The instrumental post-rock three-piece outfit now features recent addition on drums and percussion, Scott Davey (formerly of Dead Letter Circus and also the mastermind behind Three Tonne Deep).

'Illuzia' (Hungarian for illusion) is the second single from Balloons Kill Babies in the lead up to their sophomore EP 'Prodromal' - produced by ARIA award winner Govinda Doyle. A three and a half minute cathartic dreamscape, the song journeys through moments of ambient calm, euphoria and disorienting chaos.

Nothing More announce the release of their eagerly awaited album 'The Stories We Tell Ourselves' on September 15th via Better Noise Records. This is the band's first release since their 2014 self-titled album.

The album is available for pre-order now at all digital retailers along with exclusive merch packages, signed vinyl and CDs at PledgeMusic.

The band have just unveiled the album's lead single "Go To War," showcasing singer Jonny Hawkins' dynamic vocal range over a mix of electronic and organic instrumentation. He tells us:

"Trust is the foundation of every relationship. As trust erodes, our need for control grows. 'Go To War' is about how we circle the problem, unknowingly spinning the web tighter. If you circle enough, it becomes a spiral. If you spiral enough, it becomes a war."

The pre-order for Dead Lord's third studio album 'In Ignorance We Trust', scheduled to be released on August 25th via Century Media Records has started. Simultaneously, the record's first single is out now as well.

'Reruns', song number 3 on the album, is a very fine example for what you can expect from these Swedish road warriors on 'In Ignorance We Trust': Real rock music – straight, strong and honest.

The album is available in many different formats including several different coloured vinyls.

Melodic-Metalcore quartet, A Promise To Forget from Birmingham UK have announced the details of their 10-track debut album, 'Dying To Live'. The new album is set for self-release on August 11th 2017 on CD and digital download.

'Dying To Live' was written over the course of 3 years. The band left no stone unturned in their pursuit to write a debut album that truly stands out and they are proud to put their name to. During the process, the band overcame countless hurdles, including severe illness and their album recordings becoming corrupted, forcing them back to square one. Not becoming disheartened, the band picked themselves up and got back on track.

Lyrically, the album is very personal to Castle, relating to the battles that many young people have to fight today to keep pushing on through life. Tracks such as the lead single 'Sylvia' are an anthem for lost loved ones, while 'Ravens And Writing Desks' are about their cries for help.

Taken from their self-titled debut EP, Death Blooms dispense with the pleasantries and show off music muscle with their new music video 'Sick'.

Hailing from Liverpool and Manchester, the Metalcore four-piece burst onto the scene earlier this year with their stunning first music release 'I'm Dead' and a number of live shows which has seen them sharing the stages with Dope, Skindred, Raging Speedhorn, (Hed)P.E., Anti-Clone and more.

Supporters of mental health charity MIND, Death Blooms fresh take on Metal with meaning has seen their fan base grow rapidly. Vocalist Paul Barrow humbly recognises this: "We talk to people a lot who've taken the time to listen to our music, and because the lyrics encapsulate what many of us feel on a daily basis, a lot of folk make the connection quickly about mental health and the need for well-being in this fast and furious digital age."

Chains Over Razors is an intense Rock and Metal power trio comprised of singer Franco V. Roc, guitarist Mike Vapor, and drummer Andy Vapor. The three started out together as part of the the group Beneathme in 2007, and reformed in 2014 as an intense three piece focused on edge and melody driven music pushing new ideas and concepts in the genre that many would consider against the rules.

About the name drummer Andy Vapor told us: "We were watching a show about taboo culture, and the art of scarring and people hanging from chains and laying on a bed of razors or nails. This kinda led to an 'aha' moment. We thought that should be the new group name, Chains Over Razors. We always think of it as being imprisoned in a cold dark room with hanging chains over a floor with razors. It's a complete separation from reality."

The hard hitting name goes hand in hand with the hard-hitting music on the trio's debut album produced by Rock legend Carmine Appice. The first single and video 'Damnation' is a powerful heavy groove with a dark story. You can catch the band on the road from this summer onwards.

Ye Banished Privateers' brand new album, 'First Night Back In Port', is out now today on Napalm Records and this horde, who count thirty crew members on stage, take no prisoners as they are going to take you back into the cruel world of the 18th century. With the influences of Irish and Skandinavian folk as well as raw punk they brew their stormy sea chanties within a unique sound of long forgotten days - a time travel back to honest and moving music.

To celebrate the band's release day, Ye Banished Privateers have just released a brand new video for the track 'Annabel'. Says the band:

"We are extremely proud to be able to present our latest video, of one of our favourite songs - 'Annabel'. Sad as it may be, this is a story about a woman that was being dealt a bad hand from the start, but still lived her life to the fullest without regrets. The video was shot in the midnight sun this summer, in the Archipelago outside our home town of Umeå, Sweden."

Melbourne deathcore outfit Gravemind have revealed that they are the ones behind mystery website thedeathgate.com, which has been the source of a mystery that many media outlets have been trying to solve for the past ten days. Many have all been searching the site from top to bottom for clues, with varying degrees of success.

In actual fact, Gravemind have been hiding this information in plain sight for much longer, having hinted at The Deathgate since September 2016, hiding the deathgate in promo pictures, binary code in show posters and more.

Since the mystery of thedeathgate.com was uncovered, thousands of people have viewed the site in ten days and bands such as Alpha Wolf, I Shall Devour, Blind Oracle and To The Grave all shared the mystery on their social media channels.

Gravemind are today returning to the spotlight, to prove that they're here to push boundaries and crush expectations with their surprise sophomore EP 'The Deathgate'. The EP will be released on Friday August 11th, with first single Anaesthesia out today Friday June 30th. Watch the epic Sci-Fi video for the first single here.

King Satan releases fourth music video from their recently released debut album 'King Fucking Satan'. If two earlier music videos presented the band's vision of occult, mind and the world saturated with black comedy and twisted satire, 'Dance With The Devil' presents the darker and heavier side of the band's outputs, like the first music video 'Enter Black Fire' unleashed from the album. The music video was directed by the band's mastermind King Aleister Satan himself.

King Aleister Satan comments:

"'Dance With The Devil' is a sort of a microcosmos of the whole album, both musically and lyrically. I wanted to return to use more surrealism with this video, which I haven't used in this scale since I made videos for Saturnian Mist, before King Satan. There might be a surprise waiting for those whose attention span is not yet ruined by the social media era, which rewards the patience. To say about it nothing more than just this is more of a short film, than music video in traditional concept."

Korpiklaani, for the first time ever, have captured and immortalised the power of their live performance on their first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package titled 'Live At Masters Of Rock'. Due to be released on August 25th 2017 through Nuclear Blast, it's easy to conclude from the title that the performance was recorded at the identically named festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. But there's even more to be excited about, this release doesn't just include Korpiklaani's show from 2016, it even houses a second full show from 2014 as a bonus feature. The 2016 concert features guest appearances from Tero Hyväluoma (additional fiddler) as well as Toni Perttula (additional accordion player), Sami's identical twin brother. The mixing and mastering of 'Live At Masters Of Rock' were handled by frontman Jonne Järvelä.

Jonne comments: "This our first ever DVD release, and we are quite proud of it. It has no backing tracks, no choirs, no samples, all the mistakes are included. It is just us, Korpiklaani, pure live rock'n'roll...

"I spent a lot of time during the mastering process with Svante Forsbäck who recently handled the Rammestein mastering and we worked very hard to get the right ambience and crowd sound. So when you turn it up loud, it feels like you are right there in the thick of it."

As a first taster, a live clip of 'Pilli on pajusta tehty' has been launched today. Check it out, here:

Little over a year after the successful 'The Devil Strikes Again', Rage are set to deliver their new, twenty-third studio album, 'Seasons Of The Black', which will be released on July 28th.

Today, Rage reveal 'Adoration', an old Avenger classic, which was re-recorded in the current line-up for the bonus disc 'Avenger Revisited', which comes along with the limited edition of 'Seasons Of The Black'.
