2nd June 2017

Edition forty nine of Cum On Feel The Newz.

In 1649 the King of England went on trial, was found guilty of treason and other high crimes and was beheaded. The monarchy and the House of Lords were temporarily abolished. Tons of wars and people fighting over ideology, all over the world. Rather than dwell on the extent that times have changed, let's feast on Metal, the music of peace.

Let's do this...

Status Quo
Orden Ogan
Fallen Mankind
Vallenfyre
The Amorettes
Godhead Machinery
Nicumo
Metal Church
The Dust Coda
Rick Parfitt Jnr
Von Hertzen Brothers
Prophets Of Rage

Status Quo made their debut at the legendary Glastonbury Festival back in 2009 with a rip-roaring electric performance on the Pyramid Stage, and now the band have been asked back once again. Set to appear on the acoustic stage on Friday 23rd June, it sees the band joining Tom Chaplin, Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook (from Squeeze), Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders, KT Tunstall, The Bootleg Beatles And The Magic Numbers over the weekend.

The band's most recent release, 'Aquostic II – That's A Fact!' is the follow-up to the phenomenally successful 'Aquostic (Stripped Bare)' album of 2014 which was a Gold-certified Top 5 hit, giving the band their highest chart placing for 18 years.

The albums are carefully curated collections includes re-imagined Quo classics such as 'In The Army Now', 'Hold You Back', 'Caroline ', 'Claudie', 'Whatever You Want', 'Roll Over Lay Down', 'Ice In The Sun' and the ubiquitous 'Rocking All Over The World' as well as two brand new tracks on the second volume.

Prophets of Rage will release their self-titled, debut album on September 15th, 2017, and today the groundbreaking musicians shared the LP's politically charged lead track 'Unfuck The World', with a blistering Michael Moore directed video via VEVO.

"I am thrilled to once again be working with my old friends and comrades in the struggle for a just world," said Moore. "Prophets Of Rage is the right band, saying the right shit, at this very critical moment.

"This music video is our collective battle cry against those who seek to harm the innocent and the powerless. I am proud to have directed this video and I ask all who see it do their part to unfuck this world. ALL HANDS ON DECK!"

London's hard rock 'n' soul quartet, The Dust Coda, have released a new single entitled 'Down In The Valley'. Produced by the award winning, Clint Murphy (Thunder, Manic Street Preachers, Devilskin), 'Down In The Valley' is taken from the band's forthcoming debut album, slated for release this autumn.

Formed in 2015 around the nucleus of Australian, John Drake and British guitarist Adam Mackie, The Dust Coda deliver a rootsy, soulful, yet edge-driven hard rock n roll sound for fans of Soundgarden, The Temperance Movement, Rival Sons & Monster Truck.

The as yet untitled album will also include recently released singles, 'Rock n' Roll' and 'The More It Fades' both of which have received significant radio airplay and thousands of plays on YouTube. 'Down In The Valley' is accompanied by a performance video shot at Clapham Grand Theatre, London by Tom Levigne.

Front man John Drake told us: "Like all good rock'n'roll, 'Down In The Valley' is a simple tune with a strong vocal hook and a bad-ass low-slung guitar riff. It's a great live tune because even if you haven't heard it before, you'll be singing along before its 3rd minute. Guaranteed!"

In addition to the recent announcement that ex-Status Quo bass player Alan Lancaster will be appearing at the official Quo Convention this October, news has just reached us that Rick Parfitt Jnr will also appear live on stage over the weekend where he's scheduled to perform with ex-Quo drummer John Coghlan and his band, John Coghlan's Quo.

Other acts scheduled to perform include long-time Quo cohort Bob Young, who is appearing along with ex-Whitesnake guitarist Micky Moody under the guise of their band Young and Moody, and another old friend of Quo, Jackie Lynton and his band. There are also a number of tribute bands lined up to provide entertainment including Scotland's own Quo tribute band Backwater along with Quo-Incidence, Quo No!, Dog Of Two Head as well as Sound Of Status who are travelling all the way from Sweden for the event.

The official Status Quo Fan Club announced their second ever International Status Quo Fan Club Convention earlier this year, which is scheduled to take place back where it all started for the band, Butlins in Minehead, between Friday 13th and Monday 16th October 2017. Tickets are on sale now and can be bought exclusively from butlins.com along with onsite accommodation, though you'd better be quick as some accommodation options have already sold out.

Scots Rock trio The Amorettes have announced a limited edition re-issue of their debut album, 'Haulin' Ass' due to increasing fan demand. Recorded at the very start of the band's career, and only ever available at live shows, 'Haulin' Ass' displays all the raw aggression, and youthful exuberance of a band with everything to prove, and nothing to lose.

"We initially had no initial intention at all of re-issuing 'Haulin' Ass'" explained guitarist/vocalist, Gill Montgomery "however, during the last couple of years there have been so many requests from people asking where they can get hold of a copy. And nowadays, they are going for silly money on Ebay, which is flattering in a way, but we just feel now is the right time to make it available to people again, and at a reasonable price."

The re-issue comes as a Digipack, packaged with additional sleeve notes and two bonus tracks. Strictly limited to only 2,000 copies, each one will be numbered and signed the band. Also included are two bonus tracks, 'The Monday Song' and 'Booby Traps', both of which are early songs, the former pre-dating The Amorettes completely.

"Both these songs were a solid staple in our live set for the first few months of our career", explains Gill. "Sadly, they didn't quite make it onto the album, but we are very pleased to be able to add them as an extra blast from the past as part of the re-issue."

With additional sleeve notes on their own personal recollections and reflections of what recording the album was like, the release can be bought exclusively from the band's webstore here. In line with the complete DIY approach surrounding Haulin' Ass, The Amorettes have also release a brand new tongue in cheek video for the track 'Whoot Woo' which was filmed by the band, and edited by Gill Montgomery:

Syteria, featuring Jackie Chambers of Girlschool and previously Blitzkrieg, have released their brand new video for the track 'I'm All Woman' taken from their debut full length album, 'Rant-O-Bot'.

Filmed at The Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, by Lucy and Scott at Redönya Media, Jackie explained "'I'm All Woman' is a song about those individuals who believe themselves to be God's gift to the opposite sex. They see others as objects and as play things for their own amusement with no care who they hurt or of any consequences, not believing in love, just passion."

Syteria are a band that incorporate rock and pop with punk energies and they have a number of dates around the UK scheduled already including Bannerman's Edinburgh (23rd June), Wildfire Festival (24th June), Star & Garter, Manchester (25th June), Rock & Blues, Pentrich (28th July) Haven and Hell, Whitehaven (5th August), Off The Tracks Festival, Donington Park (2nd September) and Hard Rock Hell, Pwllheli (10th November)

Swedish extreme Metal band Godhead Machinery have signed to Finnish label Inverse Records. The full-length album named 'Ouroboros' is scheduled for release in the autumn 2017 with the first single 'Praise The Flesh' from the album being released on Friday 14th June.

The band's founder Robert "Kail" Karlsson (Misericordia) commenetd: "We are very honoured that Inverse believe in our tunes and our cause against the malevolent order that rules today! This collaboration will be the fuel that we need to keep focusing on the analyses of the world and on our music".

Joni Kantoniemi on behalf of Inverse Records added, "The first time I heard Godhead Machinery's tunes, I was spellbound by the extraordinary atmosphere they can create. I am extremely excited with our cooperation".

Power Metal band Orden Ogan premier the first video taken from the upcoming album 'Gunmen'. Channeling some serious 'WestWorld' moves in the vid, 'Gunman' is a huge, melodic power Metal anthem that will have you singing the chorus until it drives you nuts.

The group's new music video was once again directed by Rainer 'Zipp' Fränzen, who has worked with the band since 2012's 'To The End' album and video releases 'The Things We Believe In' and 'Land Of The Dead'.

"The creation of the Gunman clip was once again real team work", band leader Seeb Levermann told us, adding "The new album is set in a dark fantasy Wild West environment, so obviously we had to go to Monument Valley (Utah) to shoot there. There is no other place in the world that is more 'Wild West'. We shot at the classic Monument Valley scenery as well as at the famous John Ford's Point"

A second extensive part of filming took place in Germany, but here the band also tried something new: "A Western city in an adventure park proved to be the perfect location", Seeb smiles. "Things came full circle here, because we've also recorded the drums for 'Gunman' there - to be more specific - in the Western Saloon of the Fort Fun adventure park.

"We wanted to have this huge Eighties snare ambience that you can only get from big rooms and when we learned about the Saloon (in Fort Fun) we did some test recordings there and were totally blown away. The hall sounds amazing and 'Gunmen' may be my best sounding mix so far."

Finland's most acclaimed progressive rock group Von Hertzen Brothers are excited to announce that they will be releasing a new album titled 'VII – War is Over' this coming autumn and will be supporting it with an extensive UK tour.

The 'War is Over' Tour will kick off at Nottingham Rescue Rooms on Sunday 5th November and will run until Staurday 18th November at Wolverhampton's Slade Rooms, and will also include appearances at London's Garage on Thursday 16th. Supports for the tour are due to be announced shortly.

The band are currently locked away in a studio in Helsinki Finland, where they are mixing down the last tracks for their much anticipated new album. Singer Mikko Von Hertzen told us: "We (The Brothers) are so excited by the songs on our new album. We took a little breather to give space for seeds to sprout and for musical ideas to grow and flourish. So what we now have is a beautiful garden of all different kinds of songs. We feel there is a new fresh magic and energy in this record that we are all extremely excited about and we cannot wait to unleash these songs across audiences in the UK".

Headline tour dates include: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham (5th November), Rebellion, Manchester (6th), Leadmill, Sheffield (7th), Think Tank, Newcastle (9th), G2, Glasgow (10th), The Fleece, Bristol (12th), Waterfront, Norwich (14th), Talking Heads, Southampton (15th), The Garage, London (16th) and Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton (18th).

Swedish Power Metal band Fallen Mankind havereleased their lyric video for the track "Pheonix Rise" taken from the upcoming album "Bleak Ocean" which will be released on 16th June on Dr. Music Records.

Metalheads who are partial to sounds of Armored Dawn, Nocturnal Rites or Bloodbound can get in tune with the album through this extraordinary clip to the true Dark Heavy Metal hymn. Frontman Mats Hedfors along with his two guitarists Tommy Böckert and Robert Karlsson (Misericordia, Wardenclyffe) as well as Kardac Cidh (Ex-Warhammer) on bass and Kent Jonander (Reduced To Ashes) on drums, show their skills and prove thatthey don't need to back down to the named bands.
Their gloomy Heavy Metal offering is shown in this fiery hot lyric video with dark melancholy nightmare scenery full of warring images. It Convince yourselves of the fighting message and bang your head.

Unleashing their debut EP 'Slaves of Reality' last year, Brazilian thrashers BlackForce return with a new mosher entitled 'Prophets of Tomorrow' produced by the band with lyrics by Caio Kattenbach and single artwork by Orion Frazão and Gustavo Kattenbach.

'Prophets of Tomorrow' can be heard below and is available for download on Bandcamp along with the debut EP which was recorded, mixed and mastered at the band's home studio.

Finnish doom rock act Sapata release their debut album 'Satanibator', today 2nd June. Their heavy grooving compositions and strong magikal vocals create a hypnotic world full of melancholy and mysticism.

Sapata was founded in Tampere Finland 2014, and the album was recorded at Suomenlinna studios with producer Markku Syrjälä in May 2016, released via Inverse Records.

The band commented on the music video 'Sex Magik':"Sex Magik became a song that is an occultic ritual to heretic but same time divine love. With Sex Magic one can achieve a divine state of mind – superior erotic love."

To further whet your appetite for 'Fear Those Who Fear Him', the third album by crusty death/doom outfit Vallenfyre released today Friday, 2nd June via Century Media Records, the band have launched another track.

Guitarist/vocalist Greg Mackintosh told us: "Nihilist is about those who take their ridiculous holy book seriously and carry it out to the letter. In light of recent events it is dedicated to the innocent victims of the Manchester attack."

'Fear Those Who Fear Him' is an unforgiving musical mixture of death, doom, grind, and crust offering 12 ferocious new tracks. and is available on CD, LP and digital download, and also an exclusive t-shirt plus CD or LP bundle can be purchased via EMP (Germany).

KillSET announce the release of their newest video 'Killers in the Pit', a single from their upcoming album 'S.T.F.U.'

The band are the combination of a professional, well-oiled, finely tuned Metal machine and an explosive, super charged charismatic front man.The album is produced by Eddie Wohl (Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, ill Niño, 36 Crazyfists) and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, ill Niño, Sepultura), and shows the unique flavor of the band with crushing riffs, shouted vocals, and heavy rhythms.

"'Killers in the Pit,' is simply a song for our fans, the Killers!," explains KillSET. "It's for everyone that supports our music. It's for everyone that takes the time out of their lives to come down to our shows and tear up the place with us! It's about finding a positive and fun way to get rid of that extra energy and stress that so many people feel in their lives. We decided to drop this single first because music needs some flavor right now and we're bringing that not only with this track, but the whole 'S.T.F.U.' album!"

Finnish melancholic Metal band Nicumo have launched the second single 'Beyond Horizon' from their upcoming new album titled 'Storms Arise' which will be out on July 7th 2017 through Inverse Records.
