28th April 2017

Edition forty four of Cum On Feel The Newz.

Just as last week's newz went to press, the terribly sad news reached us that footballer Ugo Ehiogu, an exceptionally talented defender and all round great guy, had died aged 44 after collapsing at Tottenham Hotspur's training ground. Ugo had an illustrious career and was an inspiration to many. Round these parts he will always be remembered for his seven year stint at Middlesbrough, during which he was part of the team that secured Boro's first ever major trophy in 2002. MetalTalk's thoughts and condolences are sent to his family and friends.

Let's do this...

Lancashire noise monsters Massive Wagons have released the official video for their new single, the incredible 'Back To The Stack'. A stand-alone charity single (which is available right now via iTunes, Amazon and Play Now!) the track is written about and respectfully dedicated to a real hero of the band, Status Quo's Rick Parfitt who died on Christmas Eve 2016.

With all monies raised going directly to the Teenage Cancer Trust, the song's a real corker and shows that this band have a real knack for writing solid but catchy numbers time and time again. As the band say, "Denim up folks!"

The One Hundred have revealed the official video for the track 'Monster', which is taken from their debut full length album, 'Chaos and Bliss' which is scheduled for release on Friday 2nd June 2017 via Spinefarm Records.

To coincide with the release of the album, the band have also scheduled a headline tour of the UK and mainland Europe which includes stops at Southampton, Bath, Plymouth, Cardiff, Nottingham, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Paris, Cologne and Hamburg. Tickets for these shows are on sale now – see local press for details.

Shvpes have released a new video for 'False Teeth' which features footage from their recent 33-date UK & European tour where they supported Trivium.

The band have also confirmed a raft of tour dates in June where they'll appear alongside While She Sleeps and Northlane on their co-headline tour as well as confirming some Summer festival appearances.

The While She Sleeps/Northlane dates include Monthey, Aschaffenburg, Bremen and Bratislava, while the band are confirmed for a number of festivals including Amplified, Slam Dunk Festival Midlands, North and South as well as the Fat Lip and Trees Festivals in the UK plus The A-Mayhem in Luxembourg, Italy's In Fest and established European festivals Rock Am Ring, Graspop and Hellfest.

Following the release of his latest album 'Dust & Bones' released last summer, guitar maestro Gary Hoey will be coming to the UK for the first ever time to play a special show with fellow blues whirlwind Eric Gales at Nell's Jazz & Blues in Kensington, London on Friday 2nd June ahead of his European tour with Beth Hart.

The show will be a real feast for the ears and eyes for all blues fans out there and represents two of the finest musicians out there at the top of their game. "This is where I belong—playing this ferocious blend of blues and rock music," says the Massachusetts born Hoey about his 20th album.

Talking about the show he adds; "I'm so excited to play in the UK for the first time with one of my favorite guitar players, Eric Gales and to share my new album, Dust & Bones with the UK fans."

Legendary grindcore masters, Lock Up have released a lyric video for 'The Plague That Stalks The Darkness', a track from their new album 'Demonization' which is available now.

Shane Embury told us: "(So) Musically this song attacks from several angles. It kicks in with a very straight up old school Discharge inspired skank part then merges itself into Black Metal Territory for the chorus. The whole composition is deliberately eclectic.

"Lyrically this song has been around in my head in one form or another for a long time, as with many of the songs that I have written from the new album it skirts arounds feelings of not being in control of your life. The fear and Anxiety of finally moving past the naive chaos and hopefully welcoming life's more beautiful side! There's always the darkness but perhaps maturity keeps it in check more as we get older, let's hope so"

Lock Up are on tour with Napalm Death, Brujeria and Power Trip on the aptly named 'Campaign For Musical Destruction Tour 2017' which stops at Köln, Berlin, Krakow, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Paris, Geneva, Bologna, Munich and Eindhoven.

Just before they embark on a tour with Create To Inspire plus a special London show with He Is Legend, Wars have released a video for their track, 'Salt Flat Sailing' which is from their debut album, 'We Are Islands, After All' via Spinefarm Records.

Vocalist Rob Vicars told us: "Releasing our debut album, 'We Are Islands, After All' has been incredible for all of us in Wars, and although we're already writing new material, there's lots we still have left to explore that we touched upon on that record; 'Salt Flat Sailing' is a song about utilising loneliness and solitude to tackle your darkest moments - taking that feeling of disquiet and disconnect so many of us are haunted by and being present in it.

Next up is the new video from Blacktop Mojo, a current favourite act here at MetalTalk Towers. 'Where The Wind Blows' is from their well received album 'Burn The Ships'.

Seamlessly blending melody with adrenaline fuelled, heavy rock and roll, Blacktop Mojo draws in everyone from old Metal heads to people whose radio dials have never left top 40 stations. With soaring, gritty vocals and impeccably blended heavy guitar grooves set around a raucous southern stomp, Blacktop Mojo's live shows are sure to leave fans screaming at the top of their lungs with Metal horns in the air.

The band said of the video, "It was a blast making this video. We got to do it with a bunch of our friends from our home town of Palestine, TX in the bar where we played our first show. It basically turned into a two-day party and the fun we had really comes through in the video".

Hardcore Metal band Fire From The Gods have released their Ramon Boutviseth directed video for 'The Voiceless'. The track was produced by Jonathan Davis (Korn), and is taken from their upcoming full length album, 'Narrative Retold', which is due out Friday 19th May via Rise Records.

Vocalist A J Channer told us: "The Voiceless is referring to the callousness of society. This generation is exposed to so many shocking and graphic events. No one seems to bat an eye. There is no compassion or care for one's fellow man. Violence towards each other is a normal occurrence factored into our lives these days.

"Speaking up about it is nothing new, but it needs to be said. Yes, the world will keep spinning, and life does go on, but we need to slow down and smell the fucking roses once in a while."

At this moment, iconic UK Metallers, Paradise Lost, are putting the final touches to their upcoming album, recorded at Orgone Studios in the misty countryside of Woburn, England. Together with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, they have forged the follow-up to their highly acclaimed release 'The Plague Within' (2015), which brought them a step closer to their Death Metal roots.

This time, Paradise Lost will haunt their fans with a heavy, doom-ridden monster, as lead guitarist and songwriter Greg Mackintosh told us: "The new album will be slower, sludgier and more doom filled than ever before. Eight riff laden monster tracks of sheer Northern misery."

This 15th studio album will see the light of day at the end of summer via Nuclear Blast and is entitled 'Medusa'. As some might know, Medusa is considered a hideous Gorgon in Greek mythology - a winged female monster with living venomous snakes in place of hair and everyone who dares taking a look at her will immediately turn to stone; so watch out for new details about the album being revealed soon - if you dare.

Atlanta's Death Of Kings have teamed up with Transcending Obscurity to reveal 'Shadow of the Reaper', a new track from their upcoming album 'Kneel Before None'.

The band will also embark on an 11 date US tour that will begin in June in Atlanta, GA. Destroying their foes since 2009, Death of Kings has been a potent force in the Southeastern Heavy Metal scene, playing shows across the region with a fervent passion.

In that time they've shared the stage with some of America's most influential and notorious bands, including legends like Morbid Angel, DRI, Mastodon, Skeletonwitch, 3 Inches of Blood, and more.

Foscor are now revealing a video for the next track taken from their forthcoming fifth full-length, 'Les Irreals Visions', which has been slated for release on June 9th.

The Catalan melancholiacs are offering their clip with the song 'Instants' in advance of the much-anticipated album. The band told us: "One of the most immense and intense tracks on our album, 'Instants' revolves around the concept how humans must turn all their moments to eternal, achieving reconciliation between the far beyond and the here. The course of history is always explained through big events and how they change the turning of the world. But here we praise the value of everyday life, which is shaped by a huge amount of small ordinary moments, which are affecting our behaviour.

"If we don't value those moments, we value nothing. Its magic explains how we are, and there's no other intention behind this lyric video than to open the gates of your memories. Musically speaking, as the album's opening track, it's a declaration of intentions in itself. There are no boundaries in order to try to reach beauty in this dreamlike landscape."

Today, the new album from atmospheric Black Metal act Ghost Bath, entitled 'Starmourner' is released. The band have also unveiled the new video clip for the epic track 'Seraphic'.

Catch Ghost Bath in the UK in May supporting Katatonia, and with a London headline show at the following dates:

UK hard rockers Jupiter Falls have released a new lyric video for 'Nothing To Me'. The song is taken from their second album 'Faces In The Sand – Part One', which was released March 24th via Broken Road Records.

The Leeds, West Yorkshire based band are gathering momentum following the release of their second full length album in March to amazing reviews worldwide & the announcement of their scheduled appearance at Wildfire Festival 2017.

The video features the beautiful & talented American actress & dancer Tara Lynn Phillips and can be viewed right here:

Fresh and exciting modern metal act, Bleed Again from the south coast of the United Kingdom strike hard with their massive melodic Metalcore that is comparable to the likes of American heavyweights, Killswitch Engage and Trivium in both musical style and memorable energetic live performances.

The band have dropped their new video for 'Walk Through The Fire', the third track taken from their highly-anticipated debut album, 'Momentum', which will be released through recently signed US label Sliptrick Records on May 1st.

Vocalist James Dawson told us about the track: "Walk Through The Fire is about facing your demons head on. Using the pain and failures in life to learn from and pass that onto future generations. I have learnt a lot from my parents and friends experiences to help me through my own issues. If I can pass that knowledge onto my own children and loved ones then we can always step closer to salvation".

Irish Extreme Progressive Metal Act Mirrors of Obsidian have just released a new music video for their song 'Neutral Disease'. The grainy, monochrome affair sees rapid, high-octane cuts of the band interspersed with what could be seen as a brief history of life on earth.

'Neutral Disease' is the lead single from the band's forthcoming album, 'From One Form', set for release on May 10th. Produced by the band and mastered by Mick Kenney of Anaal Nathrakh, the album will contain 8 tracks of fast and aggressive modern Metal with progressive elements.

'From One Form' will be released on the band's own Neohuman Records label and is available to pre-order now.

Alternative Metal outfit Defences have just dropped another huge music video single for 'Let You In', taken from their debut album 'With Might And Main' which will be out on the 26th May 2017.

The single proves that the band are ready to make some serious waves in the alternative Metal scene, and that they are an energetic and positive force to be reckoned with. Kyle Parke of Defences told us:

"With 'Let You In', we put aside some of our most stadium-rock influences in favour of returning to our Metalcore roots, a sentiment reflected in the claustrophobic, disorienting and aggressive music video that accompanies it. The song itself is inspired by the difficulties that can arise when trying to let another person back into your life.

"This dichotomy shows itself in the contrast between the uplifting and hopeful chorus compared with the despairing and fatalist breakdown section. We also feel that it is a message that applies itself to everyday life outside of relationships, where one can find oneself feeling vulnerable when making life changes regardless of whether they are positive."
