seven kingdoms

Seven Kingdoms' magnificent new album 'Decennium', is released on Friday, 5th May 2017, via Napalm Records and today, the sixth track from the album, 'Kingslayer', is premiering here on MetalTalk.

'Decennium' marks Seven Kingdoms' tenth anniversary and their spirit and motto, "A fire must burn!", are perfectly demonstrated on 'Kingslayer' so crank it up and get those fists in the air. Here it is...

The band told us:

"'Kingslayer' is a song about Jaime Lannister's betrayal of his oath, which earned him that very nickname across the Seven Kingdoms.

"The Mad King was ready to blow up all of Kings Landing with stocks of wildfire hidden under the streets, rather than face defeat to Robert's rebellion.

"Having already seen enough atrocities committed by the King, Jaime could not stand by any longer with the lives of the entire city at stake.

"He murdered the Mad King, the one his life was sworn to protect. Instead of becoming a hero, this betrayal would be how history remembered Jaime Lannister."

'Kingslayer' is the third video to be released from 'Decennium', with 'Stargazer' and Neverending' having been aired last month. Just in case you missed them, here they are again.

About 'Stagazer', the band said:

"This was one of the first songs to come together on 'Decennium'. Like many of the songs, this was originally a different concept that morphed into what it is.

"I have always been fascinated by Space and the idea that there is more out there that we do not understand. The song tackles the ideas of what lies beyond, and asks the questions that we all want to know. There was a scene in one of the more recent Star Trek movies where they were flying into a Volcano to save a primitive civilization from extinction. They accidentally got 'seen' by the tribe, and because of their lack of understanding, they essentially started drawing the shapes of the USS Enterprise in the sand as if to document history. This concept could apply to real life with Ancient Cave Paintings and the whole Ancient Alien stuff.

"To me its fascinating. Being a Sci-Fi fan, this is a thought that has always been in my head. What if we are that civilization? What if our ancestors experianced the same thing? We actually don't really know... until then we should 'question the unknown' and continue driving humanity forward, eventually into the stars..."

monsters of rock

Monsters Of Rock In Full Flight is strictly limited to 300 worldwide and is available from 30th November but those ordering before 31st October will have their name published within a dedicated page in the book.

It's a deluxe 128 page hardback book in a metal flight case with a narrative by Jerry Bloom.

When promoter Paul Loasby put on the first Monsters Of Rock Festival in 1980 he could probably never have imagined it would become an annual event that would endure for so many years.

Featuring bands from the UK, Germany, Canada and USA, Loasby chose to stage the event at the Donington race circuit in the middle of England and it would prove to be a defining moment for many of the bands on the bill.

Not least for headliners Rainbow as it was the their last ever show to feature drum legend Cozy Powell. As it would happen it turned out to be the last for vocalist Graham Bonnet as well. For many of the other bands on the bill such as Scorpions, Judas Priest and Saxon, they were all on the ascendancy and would soon go on to even greater success.

Now in celebration of this first ever Monsters Of Rock Festival comes this hardback book full of glorious photos of the bands that took to the stage for that inaugural event including back stage shots. Most of these shots have not been published before which add to the uniqueness of this deluxe 128-page book which is packaged in its own flight case.

Also included are stories surrounding the event with tales and recollections from those who were there, including artists and fans alike. Each book will be signed by the author. The 300 will sell fast and definitely go on to become collector's items so order yours now right here to avoid disappointment.
