hall of heavy metal history

Jimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice recently spoke to Hall Of Heavy Metal History founder/CEO Pat Gesualdo and you can see the interview in full below.

Pat was asked about the differences between the Hall Of Heavy Metal History to other award ceremonies and said:

"The Hall Of Heavy Metal History is the one place those legendary and iconic musicians that have been carrying the flag for so long for Heavy Metal can be inducted: we are the home for those musicians. Those people who have been working so hard for decades, so we honour them in an induction ceremony every year.

"A lot of these other ceremonies only want relevant bands now and maybe one or two guys that are actually literally responsible for starting the genre. We honour some of the newer musicians as well but mostly the originators, the founders of Metal.

"The Hall Of Heavy Metal History is also a non-profit organization. Proceeds go to helping disabled children and wounded veterans and support for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.”

Pat was also asked whether Metal fans around the world can be involved in the voting process:

"The voting system is overseen by the Hall Of Heavy Metal History Nominating Committee. The committee is comprised of major record company executives and legendary musicians. So in order to open up the whole process to the fans throughout the world we are going to be posting on the website (here) categories.

"The induction ceremony will include Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal musicians and bands over the years that are responsible for bringing Heavy Metal to where it is today. Then the world will get a chance to choose who they want, so the fans get to be involved in the process. It does not only have to be what we list and post, the fans can always send in somebody that may not be the list and we welcome that too.

"And then it goes to the committee and the most votes for each person/band will then be inducted into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History. The electronic voting will probably be opening soon and that will go to September, October 2017. Modern Drummer will be one of the sites involved as an access point and they will be posting it on their website and social media that will all filter back into the nominating committee."

All inductees will be nominated in September and the second induction ceremonies will take place on January 24th 2018 at the Wynn Hotel in Anaheim, California. Whitney Alyson Ribbins of and Steve Göldby of, both Nominating Committee Members for the Hall Of Heavy Metal History, will officiate the Induction Ceremony.

Wacken Winter Nights 2018 takes place between February 23rd and 25th 2018 and the great news is that you can now experience a full-on, top class German Metal Festival easily and affordably.

It only takes an hour to fly to Hamburg from London and we've had longer journeys than that within the capital and they were certainly more expensive than the £33 air ticket that just appeared in our 'flights to Wacken Winter Nights' search.

Wacken Winter Nights is organised by the same team who are responsible for the world's greatest Metal festival, Wacken-Open-Air and the 2018 bill includes Skyclad, Orphaned Land, Elvenking, Finntroll, Grave Digger, Aeverium, Comes Vagantes, Coppelius, Corvus Corax, Die Pressgëng, Elvellon, Heimataerde, Hell-O-Matic, Ignis Fatuu, Ingrimm, Irdorath, Johnny Deathshadow, Krayenzeit, Letzte Instanz, Mr Hurley und die Pulveraffen, Pampatut, Pat Razket, Schandmaul, Sündenrausch, The Aberlour's, The Moon And The Nightspirit, Torfrock, Visions Of Atlantis, Vroudenspil, Wind Rose and more.

Besides this rich billing of superb Metal bands, there is so much more to see in the festival area including the medieval market and also the walking acts and jugglers you will meet at the theme worlds, including Robert Blake, three-time World Cup winner of street magic.

Wacken Winter Nights is something not to be missed and you can check out the amazing ticket and accommodation prices right here.

We just priced up the whole four day trip with hotels, flights, shuttles and festival tickets for less than £300 and we don't think you will get a better value festival than that, anywhere.
