BREAKING NEWS:ANVIL ACHIEVE THEIR FIRST EVER UK CHART POSITION AS MAGNUM HIT NUMBER ONE IN UK INDEPENDENT CHART
26th January 2018: 6.00pm UK Time, 7.00pm Wacken Time
The champagne is flowing in the MetalTalk offices right now as Anvil and Magnum have both achieved remarkable results in the just announced album charts.
Anvil, who were inducted into The Hall Of Heavy Metal History on Wednesday night, have hit the UK charts for the very first time in their 41 year history with their staggeringly good new opus, 'Pounding The Pavement'. The album entered the UK Independent chart at number 79 and the Official Independent Album Breakers Chart at number 18.
Anvil, Wednesday night in California...
Robb Reiner said on Steve Göldby Talks Metal last week that should Anvil gain their first ever UK chart position, it would be a fitting tribute to former producer Chris Tsangarides, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
If you haven't heard the album yet, you can listen here as Robb talks you through every track.
So now that Anvil have broken into the UK chart for the first time ever, let's pack out The Underworld on Tuesday 6th February for the first date of the European tour. It's sure to be a crazy and memorable night and one you do not want to miss.
Magnum's new album, 'Lost On The Road To Eternity', has entered the UK Independent chart at number one and the main Album Chart at number fifteen, their third highest UK Album Chart entry position ever.
They've entered the German Album Chart at number eight, their highest ever German Chaft entry ever and in Sweden, they are placed at number two in the Hard Rock Chart and number four in the Vinyl Chart.
On a chart topper's night...
These are remarkable achievements for both bands and has happened just a few days after Magnum trended in Mixcloud at 64 for the You Spin Me Round radio show in which Bob and Tony talk through every track on the album.
It is unheard of for a rock or Metal show to trend on Mixcloud and compete with the rappers and hip-hop shows but these overlords of melodic Metal have achieved it and it ranks up there with their top career highlights.
You can listen to the show right here. The Magnum special is in part two.
